I am a 21 y/o male and I have gotten a new job & I am wanting to flush and flesh out my wardrobe because I haven’t in a while. What I need to know is this. I have been told that I need to have enough cloths to last a week with out doing laundry & I have hear two weeks & I have heard a month. What is best? Keep in mind that my daily clothes are jeans & T-shirts:D. I am thinking a week worth of cloths would be best but I wanted other opinions.

This is entirely up to you. Washing and drying clothes thins the fabric and fades them. If you only have enough clothes for a week, you will need to replace those clothes sooner. Since your talking about getting rid of clothes, I’d suggest getting rid of those clothes that you don’t wear, those that don’t fit well and those that are worn out or stained. See what you have left after that and decide from there.

Since you are now 21 and starting a new job, (depending on your job) it may be appropriate to add a few different wardrobe options beyond just jeans and t-shirts. If you wear jeans and t-shirts to work, make sure they are in good condition.

I’m re-evaluating my own wardrobe too right now. I found this advice in a book on closet and wardrobe organization, “Editing your wardrobe is not about throwing things away needlessly, but ‘clarifying.’ It’s about reading the clothing in your closet like tea leaves to find out what works, and establishing a life cycle for your wardrobe.”

If you wear it and you like it, keep it.
If you only wear it because nothing else is clean, chuck it.
If it’s “dress up” and you can stand it, keep it.
Make sure you have a dark suit (or a dark jacket and dark pants). Every guy needs one - weddings, funerals, meetings, etc. If you don’t have one, check out thrift stores - you can buy a great suit and get it tailored for very cheap.
