Clear Creek Monastery

Has anyone visited Clear Creek Monastery in Oklahoma? It is relatively new - they are still raising money for permanent buildings - but it looks as if it is very “old school”. The Mass and the Divine Office are in Latin, and their day starts at 4:45 a.m. Heck, even the buildings look will look traditional: http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/3041/1321/320/font3.0.jpg
This seems rare today, when so much monastic architecture is modern in appearance.

We were there last weekend. But since we were just dropping in we didn’t want to bother anyone so we just went in a looked around the area.
It’s a lovely place.
We took pictures of the foundation and lower floor of the Church under construction. We saw the sheep flock and guest house. We didn’t go inot the temporary Church building.
The monks we saw were buy with some folks or we would have spent more time. There seemed to be some sisters there too. They have a house across from the monastery.

If you’re planning on visiting plan on driving out on county roads graveled but not paved.

I just visited last the weekend. What a wonderful place, the construction is moving along quite well. The crypt church is completed and has been for some time, the monks cells along with guest rooms are very near completion Fr. Bethel (the guest master) informed us that they would be moving up there at the beginning of the year. I attended vespers on Saturday evening and terce on Sunday before High Mass. Both were great. Overall the visit was great. For anyone who is looking for a good orthodox Benedictine Monastery Clear Creek is a perfect place for you.

I have two music CD’s by the Monastic Choir Of The Abbey Of Notre-Dame Of Fontgombault, Noel: Chant Gregorien and Saint Benedict. These are both wonderful to listen to during prayer. I highly recommend their CD’s.

I have Saint Benedict, the Feast of the Assumption, and Easter. It’s the only time I have ever responded to an unrequested mailing.

Me too! Well, I only have the St. Benedict cd that they sent out, but they did get a good chunk o’change from me. (Sadly, I am finding more worthy causes than I have money to support.) I need to buy their other cds-didn’t know about them until after I sent the check.
