I’m a supporter of climate change and always make that contribution when I’m booking flights as well as ensuring that the television has all the eco friendly settings set up. I had an experience at the supermarket that put my nose out of joint.

At the end of the Christmas food shopping, I went to the check out assistant and said ‘Good Morning’ and she looked me up and down. I then asked her for some bags (we’re phasing out carriers and I seem to forget regularly to bring my own). I asked her specifically for the free ones. She then said that her organisation are encouraging people to bring their own bags and asked me if I had brought my own and I told her I hadn’t. She repeated the same message and I asked her if her organisation were imposing this today. She said they weren’t and I said “That’s all I need to know”. In short I was affected by her manner and attitude; she didn’t look very pleasant but I showed no grace and I feel bad for being abrupt despite the expense of our shopping bill.

I feel that I’m not contributing to the preservation of our Lord’s creation by not doing everything in my power. I do feel though that no matter what we do, if the owners of the forces of production and the Government don’t reach an agreement in Copenhagen we are in big trouble. I’m on here confessing as to being bad tempered and lacking grace and hoping that everybody else can control their temper and back climate change to reduce C02 emissions and keep your heads. God bless and sorry for being a grouch
😦

Thom Yorke just edged his way into a Copenhagen climate change discussion. I love that man.

Save souls, not the planet.
Hmmm I agree Kenshin but what about the situation where human life is no longer sustainable on a environmentally ravaged planet? It’s a leading question and I hope that you have grace when you answer. God bless

If you want to see rage ask the Copenhagen attendees what the carbon footprint of the summit was…

No solutions just lots of unnecessary expenditures of our resources.

I agree mate but making the effort individually for me means I’m serving God as a dutiful Catholic and continually reminding others is essential. I let personal anger and pride interfere with my actions.
I know what governments and large corporations are like but they’ll realise that scientific evidence means they have to act. For the future of the planet, I’m praying to God that they do.

The earths climate isnt a stable unchanging thing. History shows warming & cooling to be part of the earth`s natural cycle. Pertinent to the current debate on the cause of the current change however is the fact that CO2 is heavier than air & so cannot be a pie in the sky " greenhouse gas ". Without CO2 being heavier than air there could be no carbon based life on the surface of our planet & since most life forms are carbon based life as we know it would become extinct were this to somehow change. Google " LIMNIC ERUPTION " It will explain lots. The fantasy that CO2 is heavier than air has a purpose & that is the redistribution of wealth & population control - look to see how the debate is being used.:knight2:

Climate change is a pagan myth so be cool relax and worry about real issues.

What do I think of the climate change rage? Give me back my 1966 Chrysler Newport, adjust that carbuarator rich enough to blow out black smoke, and Ill drive with the window open spraying goold old R 12 freon while reving the 383 cubic engine in it. While yelling out some choice explatives about evermentalism.

The blood of the unborn is on all our hands, and people are still wailing about the need for curly light bulbs?

God save us all.

You call yourself a “supporter of climate change” and yet talk about trying to be eco-friendly? If you were a supporter of climate change, it seems to me that you would be doing the exact opposite… 😉

More seriously, it is certainly our obligation as Christians to be good stewards of God’s Creation; however, stewardship of the earth’s resources is not our primary responsibility. We were not made in order that we might take care of the Earth- this Earth is not permanent, and there are far more pressing issues facing us in the world today.

I know about about Limnic Eruption which is a build up and subsequent sudden release of CO2 resulting in tsunamis amongst other potentially disastrous events. I would also add that your arguments can be seen in more detail in ‘A Convenient Fiction’ which is funded by the Pacific Research Institute which is funded by large oil corporations. You do sound intelligent and I do understand organic chemistry although thank you for your Google invitation.
I think the problem with this debate from the other posters is that there appears to be a divide politically between people that are pro-life must be climate change sceptics etc. Well my views don’t follow a party. I am Pro-Life and I am also a supporter of climate change and I believe in preserving the lives of children and ensuring that we have a planet capable of sustaining life as long as the Lord God allows it. I don’t think he’s going to be too happy when he finds that his planet has been abused and destroyed by man. If God destroys it - that’s his will. However, Hadron Colliders and CO2 emissions and excessive forestation etc are not the will of God. All these corporations have people that conveniently refer to God and try and confuse people with their false morality. I am pro-life and pro-preservation of the gifts I receive from God. I don’t fit a label and I certainly don’t fit a political party definition. This contemporary idea that if you’re this, then you must support this political party is temporal and nonsense. I am Catholic first and foremost and the preservation of human life is sacred and is my primary concern. Hope this helps. God bless

Can you please explain what this means because it appears to me anyway, nonsensical?

If I say I am a supporter of, for example, John McCain, then it can be reasonably assumed that I am an advocate for John McCain and want his ideas to prevail. It would be nonsensical for you to assume that being a supporter of John McCain meant that I wanted to do everything in my power to stop john McCain. Just so, to be a “supporter of climate change” means that you support (that is, advocate for and advance) climate change. You want to stop climate change. Thus, you are not a supporter of climate change.

CO2 is a natural gas from the planet. I am not worried about it. Wackos have blamed it on everything from farting cows to too many pets. Let’s get serious! What we SHOULD be concerned about are poisonous emissions coming from factories which pollute the air that we breathe and the water that we drink. The so-called climate change movement is just another way to get money out of the industrialized countries. Let’s be reasonable here: to tax us on how many breaths we take in an hour? Or to tax the mileage we use when driving? That is total nonsense. The best thing Copenhagen can offer us is nothing. There is no scientific consensus on global warming. Science is not consensus. It is experimentation. You don’t get scientific data from projected computer programming!

The science of global warming is based on far more then models.
