This is scary. If a priest almost went to hell, what chance do I have?? I mean, I know not all priests are saints, but this really scares me. I barely slept last night. Because now I am worried not just for me but my loved ones and everyone in the world, actually. This makes it sound like anyone in any different religion will not go to heaven. I thought the Church’s position on this was a bit more merciful than this.
There have been enough NDE’s recorded and they are similar enough to think that they are indeed accurate.

Yes she’s still alive. As I mentioned, she was physically present in a church 5-6 miles from where I live sometime in late October, November 2010, where she gave her testimony and perhaps answered questions at the end (with interpreter as she only speaks Spanish as far as I know) but when I found out about her visit here, it was 7-10 days late. Last time I checked, she was on YouTube. Coco2, we are to trust Jesus to save us. We cannot save ourselves, but we must depend on the mercy of God. We trust Him to lead us on the right path and to forgive us when we sin. Remember the story of the rich young man in the Bible? He had many possessions and Jesus told him to sell them and follow him. The young man went away sad and Jesus said it was easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than the rich to enter heaven. When the apostles asked him who, then, could be saved, Jesus replied that what was impossible for man was possible for God. So put your trust in God to save you and those around you. Pray for them and yourself.
Jesus also said that he came not to condemn the world, but to save it. We have the Word of God Himself to show us the way. Remember that all these testimonies and such are from humans and we have no way to guarantee they are true and come from God. Even private revelations from the Saints can be in error–the Saints aren’t infallible, and the Church does not claim they are, nor does it say we have to believe them. But God has given us His Word to trust. Read the Bible and meditate upon it. Believe God’s Word, that is where your hope is. And listen to the Church. Trust Jesus, don’t lay awake all night worrying about going to hell. That is NOT what God wants. He wants you to love Him and accept His mercy and forgiveness, and He WANTS to save you. He wants you to trust Him. This is all in His Word, and His promises are true. Excessive worrying can be sinful, because it shows a lack of trust in God, with whom ALL things apre possible.

CB Catholic: Thank you very much. I went to confession today and the priest gave me this same message. I feel much better, but have a tendency to obsess about these kinds of things, so I have to watch myself. Probably better for me to fill my mind with God’s mercy rather than think about hell.

I think it’s more of his prison than his kingdom. He doesn’t get to decide who gets in or out, God is still the soul juge on that. To the topic question, I dunno if those people actually expirienced actual hell, but if it led them to conversion, I’m not complaining… though I do feel bad that it had to come from something so terrifying.

To all of you who tremble and quake:*** Have faith and trust in the Lord!*** If you have trust and faith in Him, you have nothing whatsoever to fear for He will protect you. Showing an inordinate fear when hearing or reading these experiences only encourages Satan to torment you further to the point where you no longer trust or have faith in the Lord. At this point you may have condemned yourself to the torments of what you fear most. If you must fear, then fear the wrath of God!

You may be right, but to the inmates it would be irrelevant whether it was the devil’s kingdom or his prison. For a prisoner having his finger nails ripped out by the Gestapo, the issue of whether they’re in Hitler’s Reich or Htiler’s prison wouldn’t make much difference.

Well, I suppose its very to dismiss something you hear in relation to a near death experience. And they are easy to explain away. Nonetheless for those who lived and walked in those shoes its safe to say, you have no idea how they felt, exactly what they experienced of if in fact it is real. You would have an “opinion” on someone elses experience.
There are many out here today with flat-line read-outs which prove they were in fact dead. Time of death was called, and by all medical terms and logic they in fact were dead. So how we then reduce this to a “near death” experience which somehow in our minds makes it OK to rationalize anothers experience as a “lucid dream”. Is mighty big of us, wouldn’t you say? Yet they came back with a story to tell. Why? Maybe so you can avoid that pitfall. Is it better to say I don’t believe? Or is it better to say I don’t completely understand and in fact I lack knowledge on the subject. One fact is certain, to dismiss it as nonsense or common is to downplay the experience and miss the message.
Who knows were these people went or what they seen? If you had been there with them you might not be quick to dismiss there experience. Fact is people do come back from death, not only do they come back, but they come out the other side a different person. Forever changed with a past forever gone. They seen something, and I can assure you it wasn’t a common dream. I have seen the brave and proud come out meek and humbled. Dreams don’t do that, God does.

Related to this is the fact a lot of people have a visit from a deceased relative at around the same time the relative died. I’ve already mentioned my father, although that was unusual it that we had quite a long exchange, and he screamed terribly at the end.
I couldn’t find the reference, but I read another account where a man claimed his brother had a visit from his grandmother. The brother had lived with the grandmother for some time, so he knew her well. It seems she came to say good bye and sat on the foot of the bed, right at about the same time she died from cancer.
Trouble was the brother was on a New Zealand Navy vessel somewhere out in the Pacific Ocean…
It makes you wonder how she knew where to find him. If it comes to that I still remember the look of surprise on my father’s face when he first appeared, as though he couldn’t believe how quickly he’d been located into my room, considering he didn’t know where I lived.
