Is there a cloistered monastery located in your diocese (nuns or monks)?

There is a very small monastery/abbey that consists of a small plot of land and a large-ish cabin a few miles to the West, but it contains Orthodox monks. Since you are a traditional Catholic, I’ll have to answer “no” to your form. It’s a shame!

My old parish actually supports an Anchoress who lives a cloistered life.

We do have a very strict Studite monastery near Woodstock, Ontario as well.

There are just under sixty communities in my Diocese; not all of which are cloistered.

I know **four **of them are cloistered; but there could well be more than that; as I don’t have contact with all the communities in the Diocese. All of the ones I know to be cloistered are for nuns.

This is the Harrisburg diocese. There is a cloistered order of Discalced Carmelite nuns, in Elysburg, PA and they have available (for the public) the Tridentine Mass. It’s about 30 miles away from where we live.

[object Selection] We have two in the Archdiocese of Hartford: the Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem, who are Benedictines, and Our Lady of Grace Monastery in North Guilford, who are Dominicans.Unfortunately, no Carmelite or Poor Clare nuns are in the Archdiocese, we haven’t been blessed with either order yet. There was a Poor Clare monastery in Stamford, but it closed a while back.

the Capuchin Poor Clares were invited here from Mexico by Bishop Pena and given an old church which is now a perpetual adoration chapel, and an adjoining house. They recently lost their source of income (candles) and are looking for another. the
Benedictine Sisters have active ministry, evangelization and pro-life although of course their prayer life is contemplative they are not cloistered.
