Clown Mass

This sort of thing is very much the exception, considering all the Eucharistic Liturgies that are celebrated, even on this day, don’t you think?

Its more scary to me the fact that there were so many people in the pews. It looked packed! 😦

This isn’t an isolated incident. Check some of the other videos on abuses.

How do these clowns get to be priests? The parishoners are involved. Look at the number of those raising their hands. What’s that about anyway?

The “chalice” is a Pyrex bowl which looks like something you’d put Jell-o in. Blowing holy water bubbles? Anyone there know the definition of a sacrilege or did they really think this was normal?

Where’s the bishops? What was the response to this? Are these priests still active?

This is very scary because these Catholics have the same mental capacity to follow a Jim Jones into a jungle and drink the Kool-Aid.

Is this something new to the Church or has such similiar abuses occured before?

Personally, I didnt see any thing going on that remotely resembled a celebration of holy mass so i refuse to recognise it as a eucharistic celebration. Look at the surroundings and you will agree.

I agree with you. this to me is an invalid Mass. these people seemed not know what a Mass is or did not even heard of.

i dont blame the people. Catholics follow the priest and if the priest is doing this then people will follow. i would have walked right out and go and find a TLM anywhere so i could find some peace.

yes. i see that too. the CC is heavily under attack from within. never seen before. that is what happened when you convene a Council and bring anti Catholics to participate in such an important Council which was about the changes in the Mass.
why would anyone invite outsiders to participate in the CC when they dont even believe in the Church. this doesnt seem very wise to me.

Say…what?

That wasn’t something I was expecting with my Fiber One this morning.

My priest doesn’t demand that everyone come to Mass dressed nicely (though he will tease if he doesn’t like an adult’s shoes or something) because he knows that sometimes it’s a struggle just to get teenagers into the church building and sometimes parents have to give a little in one area to get in the main event.

But I honestly think he’d be screaming from the ambo if anybody came in dressed up like clowns. The idea of a priest celebrating Mass as a clown goes way beyond anything that I think anybody honestly tolerates.

But there’s something in the comments below that makes me believe that this is an Anglican service, not a Catholic one, so perhaps it’s our Evangelical/Anglican separated brothers that are putting on this show. Something to think about.

I don’t wish a sacreligious service on anyone, but hopefully it’s not Catholic, and hopefully whoever performed the service is being delt with in a lovingly correct manner.

The infamous clown mass was most assuredly a bizarre and inappropriate spectacle but as it was a one time event for circus performers I don’t see how it really justifies such a high level on our radar when we have widespread and commonplace liturgical abuses to worry about like hand shaking and hand holding not bowing the head during the creed, etc.

It isn’t one Mass. Check out the videos on YouTube regarding abuses of Masses. You have your clown “mass”, Halloween “mass” complete with the singers in devil costumes, dancing masses where they’re leaping up and down the aisles, and a few young women in dresses cut up to the thigh.

The main point of focusing on clown masses, is to link the clown mass with the liturgical renewal ordered by Vactican II and implented by Paul VI, JPII. Am I correct on this assumption?

If the renewal is what caused this, then the only solution is to disavow the liturgical renewal, and vindicate SSPX.

Exactly! This is NOT a one off - there are horrible abuses going on all over the place, and no bishops who seem to give a rat’s behind about it in those dioceses. THAT is the problem here.

My gosh - I guess Jesus is just going to have to come back and flip the tables over again before people start to get it!!!

This was not a Catholic Mass, this was an Episcopalian “service.” I don’t have the time, date, location etc. with me as I’m at work, but I can post the information when I get home.

Don’t get me wrong; I hate abuses and love the TLM. But you do no justice to the TLM by posting this as a Catholic Mass when it’s not.

Hmmm. Indeed, why would they?

This, however, was at a Roman Catholic Church:

Don’t get me wrong; I know these things happen and it sickens me. But it also irks me that people make these 10 minute videos that have all sorts of abuses in them and only half of them occurred in Catholic parishes. The link you posted is more than enough to make any Catholic hurl. We don’t need to weaken the cause by posting Episcopalian services as Catholic Masses.
