She took it well.

Yay!

I went through a couple of piles, and 95% of what I got rid of stayed in the trash. I am thinking of getting some folders for loose recipes and paperwork she can’t get rid of and just put it in the folders on the desk.

I will probably have to do it when my dad is not around as I think he thinks it is not my job. I know it’s not but if I can help, it’ll make me feel a bit better. Like you said, a little at a time can at least keep it under control.

**Yes, and everybody above 2 that lives in a house has some responsibility to take care of things in the house.

I feel a lot better so I think I have also worked through the anxiety issue as well, hopefully.

**Very good!
**

I tend to shift from one anxious focus (I don’t like the word obsession, but a therapist once said I tend to have obsessive thoughts and I could have a touch of OCD; I don’t have other symptoms of OCD so I don’t think I have that issue too). Depression and anxiety are enough to deal with, plus the isolation of my circumstances.

Thank you again. 🙂
I hope you are able to continue to work well with your mom!

There’s so much shame associated with bad housekeeping, so try to be compassionate.

Yes, I am learning a lot of patience and compassion. My parents also just got a new computer and a new operating system (that I myself do not know well), and I am their “computer tech support,” which I don’t mind at all, but it requires a ton of patience. I am getting better with not being frustrated in those situations.

I actually realized something about my anxiety…I fixate on the oddest things when I actually am really concerned about something else. This past month my mom has been dealing with some medical issues, which are probably a non-issue, but she got three different “results” from one test in three days so we’re still waiting to find out what in the world happened. It’s the weirdest thing I’ve heard of when it comes to test results.
