I did. I agree with the above poster that the show is cutting a lot of information. They did not mention all the issues that re ignited the shroud studies after the C14 like the contamination, the fact that C14 should not be used for items made of animal or vegetal origin (like the shroud), it didn’t mention the microscopic evidence neither that pollen from plants belonging to Israel in the first century was found in the shroud, and it didn’t mention the most recent studies that suggest that the image was printed due to some kind of molecular explosion.

I did not like the fact either that when they mentioned the “theory” of the photograph technology available in the medieval times, they did not address The fact that the proposer of this theory indicates that the stains of blood is paint when it has been proves that it is not paint. Those are actual blood stains.

However I liked when they explained the studies over the sudary of Oviedo. i haven’t read too much about these studies so I really liked it. Also I like the fact that the last scientist studying the sudary stated that the C14 has to be wrong.

Though I have to say in CNN’s favor that it was only one hour and I can see that it is extremely difficult to go through every test that has been done on the shroud and over all the scientific opinions in one hour, so I can see that to make it fit in they had to cut a lot of stuff. Nonetheless they should have done a two or three part series about the shroud or so a longer show.

Whether the Shroud is really the shroud that covered Jesus or not (which I believe it is), it does not have anything to do with the reality of evolution (which I also believe in). 🤷
 
If the program makes people look into the subject further, than it was a good show. I think it will.

Now for the other shows coming up I think there will be problems with them, like the gospel of Mary Magdalene. :confused:

I am currently watching the EP. which ran on 3/22 and I’m really upset!

This particular episode dredges up that old argument about “your mother and brothers are here to see you”. And the priest who has been sparingly featured in the series makes a remark about how “Mary’s virginity is important to Catholics” which in a sense implies that as far as the truth is concerned the rest of Christianity “gets” that she and Joseph had kids while we Catholics stubbornly persist in holding onto a “lie”.

I never thought this show would defend the Catholic faith but I assumed wrongly that it would at least stick to the scriptures instead of going off on huge back stories that probably didn’t happen the way they are presented if at all.

Bad enough we had to suffer through the Gospel of Judas episode which is not part of any bible at all.

This just smacks of Da Vinci Code style fabrications trying to offer themselves up as truth. I’m wondering if the finale will center on whether or not Jesus was divine and if not is there God! Oh wait! They are doing that right now on CNN as I speak with their ode to non-theists.

I don’t understand what the value is in secular media even discussing religion. Seems its more an attempt to discourage people who are seeking truth and give the skeptics red meat and ultimately hang all believers out in the wind to defend what’s portrayed without feeling like you’re in danger of contradicting yourself while trying to sort some scraps of truth out of all this rubbish.

I just watched about a minute or so of an episode this past weekend because they were talking about the Apostle Paul, and I said to meeself, here comes the whole Apostle Paul never met or knew Christ part.

Sure enough, a Professor’s head appears and says the Apostle Paul never knew Christ.

They completely disregarded Paul’s encounter with Christ.
There is no doubt that Paul’s encounter with the Risen Christ was the most profound turning point of his life. In the Acts of the Apostles, Luke describes Paul’s experience on the road to Damascus in dramatic terms: knocked from his horse by a blinding light, the voice of the Risen Christ challenging him for persecuting his followers, Paul’s temporary blindness healed by Ananias in Damascus, and the subsequent commissioning of Paul in a vision of the Risen Christ (see Acts 9:3-19; 22:6-16; 26:12-18) . . .

Paul’s experience of the Crucified and Risen Christ turned his life around and gave him new purpose: from now on he understood himself as called by God to bring the good news of salvation to the Gentiles, a mission to which he would commit all of his energy for the rest of his life. It was the paradox of the cross, the overwhelming realization God was redeeming the world through Jesus, a Crucified Messiah, that compelled Paul to rethink so much of his understanding of God and the destiny of humanity. Surely not all of the implications of this were apparent to Paul at the moment of his first encounter with Christ, but as his mission unfolded and as he encountered other Christians and the tradition they handed on, Paul began to tease out the full meaning of this astounding fact and express it in his letters.
