I am not sure Liam Neeson is a practicing
Catholic. I thought once he did not have nice things to say about the Church and was even considering Islam. That has been a few years since I read that though.

My husband was asking me the other day if I’d seen some piece CNN ran about Pope Benedict’s clothing or something. Apparently CNN has discovered that Popes get clicks. I wouldn’t put too much faith in any documentary of theirs on anything at this point.

Give it a chance you may be surprised. CNN has done some very fine and fair religious (especially Catholic) documentaries.

It seems some just want to hate it because of their political opposition for CNN.

I would be interesting, as an experiment, to find 2 groups of political conservatives who were not aware of the show, and have them view the same film in separate groups, one showing the original, and the second with all CNN headers and mention replaced with FOX News, and see which group thought it was good, and which thought it was bad.

No, I want to hate it because even back during the Obama administration and on non-political topics, such as snowstorms, CNN’s coverage has been mostly poor quality and a total joke.

I was a daily CNN watcher for about 3 decades just like I was a regular reader of the Washington Post. The Post still prints some okay stuff from time to time; for example, their piece exposing the police arrest abuses in and around Ferguson was one of the only intelligent pieces I read on that whole situation.

I cannot remember the last time I saw something on CNN that I thought was equally intelligent. I sometimes enjoy Anderson Cooper making faces. That’s about the extent of my positive feelings towards CNN for years now. I cannot believe they will do a decent job on a Pope show.

I understand…thsts pretty much the point i sttempted to make…

Thats probably something we all need to work on avoiding…wheter its a tv network, a group of people, or any other sspects of the world hatred is not a good thing, snd never should be something we allow ourselves to “want” to do.

Peace.

I was being facetious by sarcastically mirroring your words. Didn’t think you’d take it so literally. I suppose I should have put some funny emojis on it.

I don’t “want to hate” anything, and when something does reach the level where I struggle with “hate”, it is usually someone committing a terribly violent crime on a child, elderly person or even an animal. I don’t have emotion to waste on a silly television network.

I do bemoan the fact that CNN is not as good a network as it was back in the 80s and early 90s.
I will likely not watch this Pope schtick because (a) I have better things to do with my time, such as praying or reading an actual scholarly book on the Popes, (b) I rarely watch TV anyway, and (c ) I’m sure if there is anything noteworthy about this show, people will post a clip here or discuss it, so why should I bother to watch.

Note to myself: stop trying to joke around on here when it comes to some issue where a person has decided to read “politics” into everything, people take themselves too seriously…where is Cruciferi with one of those headdesk memes when you need it

Do you remember the names of these especially fine Catholic documentaries?
Just curious.

My gut tells me it will waver between neutral, bad, and plain ugly. I highly doubt it will be good…

'Til Cruciferi comes around, this’ll have to do.

Thanks. I will have to check those out.
I might have seen one or two when I had cable.

I assume you are directing this to me…point taken, even though inaccurate.

I had heard he converted years ago but I just googled and apparently he did not go through with it. My bad.

I dont think you did…your Feb 2015 post indicated you did not have cable or satellite and would wait to read reviews.
