CNN: 'This is Life with Lisa Ling: Called to the Collar' (Catholic Priesthood) 11/16 10:00 p.m

Looks like CNN is taking a swipe at the Catholic priesthood tonight.

I would like to imagine that this program is a balanced portrayal of the Catholic priesthood and Catholicism, but knowing that it is CNN and one of their snooping reporters, I can only expect the worst.

I’d like to watch this but I don’t think I’ll have the time.

I guess they couldn’t call the show “Called to the Holy Catholic Priesthood” but named it instead “Called to the Collar”.

That question Ling asked that 14 year old Altar Boy whether the Lord has talked to him about his future struck me just a little odd to be asking a youngster.

actually ,i have been enjoying watching lisa ling’s show on cnn,until dish network dished it.and im livid.now,im watching RT,AL JAZEERA,AND CCTV. i rarely watch FNC,as everybody knows its a Republican channel and im and independent minded person.i just signed up w/ dish nw and im very upset with them,since i watch CNN headline news before going to work and CNN after work.
 
Just got done watching this…it was very good and positive toward the priesthood 🙂

Reminds me of that man who attacked someone dressed as a fox news reporter on Halloween.

Fox News has a Priest that is a regular on that network.

I could say CNN is Democratic and everyone knows it, ditto for NPR, MSNBC, CBS, ABC and so on.

Thank goodness we have an alternative in Fox.

Did they doctor tapes like NBC did over George Zimmerman? Did Fox News block out reporting on Dr. Gosnell in Philadelphia? No to both of these.

It wasn’t a swipe at all. She was very respectful and appeared really impressed with the young priests and their vocations. I thought it was excellent.

I didn’t see the show, but people on this forum often point out that serving as an altar boys is optimally the beginning of discernment for the priesthood. I neither agree nor disagree with their sentiments.
 
Saw it and thought it was pretty good. It was fair, of course they brought up the child abuse stuff but it was all handled well. Was surprised to see the bar in the Seminary.

Well if they’re going to be handling some consecrated wine, they might as well. 🤷

Isn’t “collar” a euphemism for “arrest”?

:eek: ***- I’d be bracing for the worst but … ***

I’ll be doing … almost anything else … instead.

I haven’t liked most of what I’ve seen on CNN … if they are getting better I’m all for it.

If Ms. Ling was around some holy people … well … that usually does have an effect.

Good for her if her piece was fair, respectful and informative.

:nope: Not so much for the (obligatory?) rehashing of the scandals (again).
 
I thought it was a very balanced and objective program. A lot more uplifting than some previous episodes dealing with Mormon drug abuse and travelling strippers.

For those who disagree with the title, remember that in news, brevity is the cardinal rule for headlines and show titles, and the alliteration used is another plus.
 
I recorded this show and finally got around to watching it. I thought it was very well done. The faith, desire to do God’s work, and commitment to serving others of these young priests is a joy to see. We should be praying for all our priests, but, especially, for these young ones and for the current crop of seminarians.
 
I also recorded the show and just finished watching it.
I was happy to see a thread had already been started.

I enjoyed the program and I believe she really was surprised at how mature and holy these young priests are.

She realized why the seninarians feel a calling.
I think she asked some good questions and I was especially impressed with the answers Father Gary from Wisconsin gave her.

It would be interesting if 7 years from now she did a follow up and see how they have matured in the priesthood.
Their Catholic faith really inspired me.

If you’re an independent, that supposedly means you consider all opinions, right? So,

Russia Today = Communist opinion
Al Jazeera = Islamic opinion
CCTV (China Central Television?) = Communist opinion?
CNN = Liberal opinion

Seems like you’re missing one.
