Co-Creators of Souls

When God created humanity, in both body and soul,
He wanted us to be special, so he made us immortal.
He gave us free will and desired that we choose to love,
So that some day we might join Him in heaven above.

God made us co-creators of humans as we are the trigger
So whenever we join a human egg and human sperm together,
A new human life is created with both body and soul,
One cell, one being, one person, a complete human in all.

We as creators of this life have an strong obligation,
To enable this being to come to life’s fruition,
To let this person be the best that this person can,
To fulfill life’s destiny as only this person can.

The child’s parents have from God a great duty,
First of all is to love the child most dearly,
And to help this child to be all this person can be,
especially loving God deeply for all eternity.

We are the trigger but God makes the soul,
Making a new person, completely whole.
Blest are the people who do this with love,
Their reward is magnificent in heaven above.

However, in reference to Catholic teachings, a clarification is needed.

1. God is One, a single transcendent super-natural Pure Spirit without restrictions. Therefore, there cannot be Co-Creators of Souls.

Human parents can be poetically described as partners since they provide the mortal material element of a human person. The immortal, rational spiritual soul is not “produced” by the parents. (Information source. CCC 366) Being a human partner should not be poetically interchanged with God as Creator, because of possible confusion.
