Then again, maybe I am too trusting!
This all may be the case BUT-how do you explain to others…say your kids friends and friends parents. You don’t think that you and your family would have the attached stigma of being a “sex offender”? Think about it this way…if your kid wanted to play at someones house where the registered sex offender lived…you probably wouldn’t say “hey he might not be that creepy”. Youd take your kid and run.Not all registered sex offenders are creepy in the way that you might imagine. As someone already mentioned, he could have had an inappropriate relationship with a girl who was say 16, when he was 18 or whatever and the father or mother of the girl pressed charges. Who knows what the situation is or how long ago it was.
I am glad you told your friend, Catholic79, and I am glad your friend already knew! What a relief. Maybe she is relieved you know? Although I guess you aren’t her best friend. I am sure she knows she can count on you to keep it on the down low from other coworkers and such right?
We shouldn’t judge on the creepiness factor. We don’t know what their relationship is like.
The OP has given enough information that it raised my eyebrows; 10 years? Hand-holding and no dating alone? To me, that qualifies as weird no matter how you look at it.We shouldn’t judge on the creepiness factor. We don’t know what their relationship is like.
Well done, catholic79. Glad it went well.Well I talked with her, she said she did know and that she had looked into it. She thanked me for my concern and that was that. Much much much better then I had imagined. Thank you to all who shared advice.
