As I was getting ready to go out for my moring walk, the syndicated overnight radio program Coast to Coast AM was finishing up.
Just in a 5 minute period, I heard some things on there that really shocked me:
A talk about a reincarnation of a guy named Edward Casey.
A comment that stated (paraphrasing here) “a person who is empty inside will create a senario of a 'higher being.”
And that the movie The Day After Tomorrow is actually real!
The best part of the show was listening to the closing music.

I have heard the show on and off (mostly OFF) and other topics heard deal with many paranormal experiences, ghosts, remote viewing (I have no idea what that is but does it have to do with watching TV?) And of course alien life.
Art Bell and his protege George Nori are probably not aware what kind of unsuspecting occult trash they are participating in, BUT I heard that the ratings for such shows are rather high.
Has anyone else ever listen to this show and do you get the errie feeling that the devil is behind the entire show (guests, topics, callers)?

Go WITH God!

Hi Edwin. I’ve never listened to the program, but my brother is a big fan. He says it is a ‘hoot’. Apparently plenty of talk about UFO’s and Elvis sightings. My brother gave me the impression it was mostly a farce. I would like to check it out myself to see. Maybe the next time I get up early to go fishing I’ll try to catch a little bit of it.

I’ve heard the show several times. The show touches on the “extraordinary”.

Some common topics are: alien sitings, time travel, government cover-ups, etc.

I heard a Catholic priest on the show once that talked about exorcisms.

It pretty much deals with subjects most people at some time or another have been fascinated with. It’s mostly garbage, but also for those with an active imagination.

I’ll say this much: it does seem to give the impression that a lot of this stuff is real even though in my mind a lot of it is a bunch of baloney.

It’s been quite a while for me, but I used to listen to it. It is a hoot. Unfortunately, it’s not a farce. I think most of the people really believe what they are talking about. But it does go a little further, and gets into the paranormal, which is somewhat disturbing.

Basically, the show will cover anything that is out of the ordinary. This goes from the more ridiculous stuff like space aliens and these invisible animals called “rods” that are zipping around us at all times, to the less comfortable topics of witchcraft, bilocation, etc.

There’s better stuff to listen to.

I really liked it when Art Bell hosted it. It was creepy in a B-movie kind of way. 😉

When I had a quarter-speed tape recorder, I used to listen to it regularly. It is extremely entertaining and interesting, especially to people like myself who are interested in the paranormal and anomalous phenomena. However it requires a huge grain of salt in one hand and a whopping helping of Discernment in the other. There are a lot of guests on the show - the majority, I would say - who claim to have knowledge revealed to them by spirits, or by aliens, or by psychic techniques , and their information is invariably contrary to the teachings of the Church (and often contrary to each other as well).

I’m sure some are charlatans, but I strongly suspect others are diabolically influenced.

If you like to tune in to the Enemy’s disinformation campaign just to watch how seeds of false doctrine get sown, it’s eye-opening!

Overall, I just get a very ‘uneasy feeling’ when ever I hear the program on the radio.
One time, about 10-12 years ago, there was several programs that taked about Christ and the Bible that just was ‘way out there’. I do not recall any of the specifics, but at first I wanted to believe in what was being said…I was living outside of the Church at that time.
The uneasiness I feel could be knowing that some spiritual foe could and might be at work on Coast to Coast.
Have any religious clergy listened in?
The priest who talked about exsoriam (sp) was he a REAL priest? I believe he was Fr. Malichi Martin.

Just wondering?

Go with God!
Edwin

From what I’ve read, Malachi Martin believed there was satanism going on in the Vatican.

I used to listen to this show. It seemed to me funny “entertainment”. But over time it made me feel more and more uncomfortable, uneasy. I do not listen to it anymore.

Fr. Malachi Martin was a revered guest on the show. Art Bell loved having him on and was fascinated by Fr. Martin’s comments. I heard all of his interviews. (I believe a Canadian apostolate featured a series of in depth interviews a couple years ago which I got a hold of). He had a huge love for Our Lord, the Blessed Mother & the Church. He worked at the Vatican, held many advanced degrees in various languages, philophopy, etc., one of the truly brilliant thinkers of our day. He hailed from Ireland & was ordained as a Jesuit. He was an insider at the Vatican & but in later years, disillusioned with the direction of the Jesuits, with permission from the Holy See left the order. He moved to Manhattan, wrote best-selling novels, said daily Mass on his own, worked in his neighborhood. At that point, he was not under the authority of a Bishop but he was still a priest. But the most difficult times of his priesthood were his experiences as an exorcist which he openly discussed on the program. Wow, what an eye-opener that was - the battle between the Triune God and Our Blessed Mother & the fallen angels with helpless souls caught in the middle.

Now C to C has interviewed some topnotch scientists especially pertaining to NASA, astronomy, theoretical physics, etc. However, my greatest problems with the show are the the guests on the fringe, the investigations into the dark side which I immediately shut off. Also UFO’s, crop circles, paranormal, Edgar Cayce, Nostradamis, new agers, and technical remote viewing (funded by our government to the tune of $20 million) are strange. Yes, I’ve listened off & on for several years to my regret. I could have spent time nourishing my soul in prayerful reading & meditation instead! Once you’ve heard or watched something it’s always in your memory. I’ve had enough.

A couple of guys who claimed in the past few months to have visited Sr. Lucy (Fatima). George Noory & staff investigated & the sisters at her convent in Portugal said she’s bedridden & had no visitors. I think they were trying to push their book & got kicked off the program.

However, I’ve discovered this website & other Catholic Web resources (also EWTN satillite programming) This is a much better use of my mind & energy and far more relaxing. I’m to the point where I don’t care about what the other side says anymore, I’m tired of playing mental ping-pong, I’ve read & listened for several years - it’s an energy drain. Yes, I need to continue being vigilant & being aware & always be on guard because alot of that stuff is out there in daily life. I am informed but I need to lean on the Lord, my help & my strength to keep fighting the good fight!

Sincerely, soccermom

I really don’t believe in space aliens, tho. If they were real, I am sure or Lord would have said so. I believe as in the Image and Likeness of God, we are unique and blessed!

Go with God!

I too listen on occasion but not as frequently as I used to (before I found EWTN, etc. and had my eyes opened  ). Someone else mentioned the need for extreme discernment, you definately have to know the truth in order to listen w/o any ill effects, and most of us don’t have that level of discernment!

The current host I think is a lapsed or “cultural” Catholic who comments, wrongly, on doctrine and stuff, mentions his beliefs about the new age and things of this nature.

I agree w/ soccermom about things sticking in your memory!

I can’t stand that show. Art Bell really irritates me. His voice sounds so annoying, like an affected snooty accent. Most of the stuff is silly alien landings and supernatural hocus pocus, really a waste of time. Ugh. It’s just a bunch of superficial, razzy dazzy crapola…

I must say, I listen devoutley to that show, and I really enjoy it. I am at the same time a very orthodox catholic, faithful to the Magisterium. We must be aware that a lot of topics(though not UFO’S I don’t beleive in that) on the show, are REAL, and their guests are for the most part well respected in their fields such as some physics professors, or others. The host has had experts on Fatima. Experts (priests) on exorcisms, and the demonic, etc, etc. It is an eye opening show.:clapping: Though I don’t have to agree with every little iota.

By the way, I don’t think the question on the thread was what you think of (a great man) the host’s voice. To focus on a subjective immature comment about someone’s voice, is highly UN-Catholic.
As per what you call "supernatural hocus pocus" if by this you mean the reality of angels and demons, news: this is a DOGMATIC reality of the Scriptures and the Church.;)

I have also listened to it off and on when I’ve been driving late at night. I never heard any of the Church-related topics. Every show that I heard was totally way-out-there silliness. I don’t know whether or not the hosts were believers in it, but the guests sure seemed sincere.

I specifically remember David John Oates on there talking about his theory of Reverse Speech Analysis, which is essentially that you can record someone speaking, play it backwards, and hear their real thoughts (he says that the subconscious somehow reveals itself verbally, but masked backwards). Anyway, so after explaining this silly theory, he promptly busts out some tapes to prove it. He plays some political speeches forward, then backwards. As he plays it backwards, he points out what he claims that they are saying. His big proof was a big zero. The audio didn’t even remotely sound like what he said. My friends and I all had a lot of laughs about it. The guy was sincere, though. It always seemed harmless to me as long as you realized that it was a big joke. But if you fall for all these wacky “experts” that they have on, then I’d see a danger in it.

Again, I never heard any of the Church topics, so I’m not referring to those - just all the alien, UFOs, bizareness that I heard.

Hesychios:
Is it possible they meant Edgar Cayce?

M
I think so. I neverheard of him until I listened to a program, but never knew how to spell his name.

I listen to Coast to Coast when I drive over the road at night. It is a good overview of what the Devils is doing in the world and how the " New Age" people think. It is like the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. At times it may seem good but when you understand it is all evil because it’s roots are evil then you truly understand it. Art Bell has been ask a number of times “Is he saved” and his reply is always that in the traditional sence no because he does not believe in the attoining grace for salvation through the Blood of Jesus Christ.
George Nory seems to be somewhere in the middle with some respect for Christian views but I have never hear Him give a faith statement.
It is not a show where you go to uplift or find joy unspeakable full of glory but rather you will find distrust for God and your fellow man if you take this program seriously. God BLess

Tonight I couldn’t sleep and listened to the program on and off.
Some of the stuff I heard really confirms why I started this post to begin with.

Tonight (July10) I heard about
Immortals walking the earth. Some guy called saying that he was born in 1499 and other immortals were coming out to get him. So, he couldn’t stay on the phone too long!
(A real nut or WHAT!?)

Some guy called from Arizona who said that he saw four black helicopters rise in the middle of the night and flashing their lights. This man was not detected. So when this guy walk into the middle of a ‘phony cornfield’ he looked into the hold and found military people working underground. If this was a ‘secret’ base why wouldn’t the security find the guy with infrared detection or heat censors! ALL of this in an artifical cornfield. Do they take the fake corn filed down for the winter? (Night of the Phoenix lights). Spaceship stuff…

Another guy called saying that the Mayan calendar will end at 2012. (Yeah, right?)

This stuff over night CAN’T be real!
It’s seems to be beyond entertainment and many misguided people REALLY belives this bunk.
(It makes one wonder why this stuff is on overnight radio. If it was on daytime radio, it would get laughed off the air).

Sorry George and Art, you can’t fool me!

GO with GOD!
Edwin

Dear Edwin,
Yes, that sounds like a typical show. I can’t stand pseudospirituality. I grew up in California and was very influenced by a lot of this thinking. Young people are attracted to it. I thought I was quite enlightened.

As I matured I saw how shallow and empty all these new age beliefs were.
