I’ve come across a poster on another forum who holds to the Deuterocanonicals in the Scriptures, but also holds to the Orthodox books and others as the Inspired Word of God. He made constant references to the Codex Sinaticus. What is this book?

"Codex Sinaiticus

Codex Sinaiticus is one of the most important books in the world.

Handwritten well over 1600 years ago, the manuscript contains the Christian Bible in Greek, including the oldest complete copy of the New Testament. Its heavily corrected text is of outstanding importance for the history of the Bible and the manuscript – the oldest substantial book to survive Antiquity – is of supreme importance for the history of the book.

What is Codex Sinaiticus?

Codex Sinaiticus, a manuscript of the Christian Bible written in the middle of the fourth century, contains the earliest complete copy of the Christian New Testament. The hand-written text is in Greek. The New Testament appears in the original vernacular language (koine) and the Old Testament in the version, known as the Septuagint, that was adopted by early Greek-speaking Christians. In the Codex, the text of both the Septuagint and the New Testament has been heavily annotated by a series of early correctors.

The significance of Codex Sinaiticus for the reconstruction of the Christian Bible’s original text, the history of the Bible and the history of Western book-making is immense.

The Codex Sinaiticus Project

The Codex Sinaiticus Project is an international collaboration to reunite the entire manuscript in digital form and make it accessible to a global audience for the first time. Drawing on the expertise of leading scholars, conservators and curators, the Project gives everyone the opportunity to connect directly with this famous manuscript.

The Codex Sinaiticus Website

This is the first release of the Codex Sinaiticus Project website. The fully developed website is online since July 2009. "

Well, the Codex Sinaiticus is an ancient hand-written copy of the Greek Bible, written in the 4th century in uncial letters on parchment. It came to the attention of scholars in the 19th century at Saint Catherine’s Monastery at Mount Sinai, with further material discovered in the 20th and 21st century. Although parts of the Codex are scattered across four libraries around the world, most of the manuscript today resides within the British Library.

Along with Codex Vaticanus (another near-contemporary copy of the Scriptures in Greek, preserved in the Vatican Library), the Codex has proven to be one of the most valuable manuscripts for establishing the original text of the Greek New Testament, as well as the Septuagint. It is the only uncial manuscript with the complete text of the New Testament, and the only ancient manuscript of the New Testament written in four columns per page which has survived to the present day.
