Mormons,

Are coffee and alcohol prohibited because they are immoral to consume, or do you refrain simply as a discipline of your faith? Are both equally prohibited, or are there differ reason for prohibiting for coffee/caffeine versus alcohol?

Thank-you.

Oh, I am tired. As I read this, I switched the D and S around, and I wondered what the post would be about.

Time for an early bed tonight! When the college kid(s) come home, my whole sleeping schedule gets out of whack! :whacky:

According to a coworker who recently became a Mormon, they are allowed to drink warm drinks like hot chocolate and cold caffeinated drinks like Monster, but not warm caffeinated drinks like coffee and tea. I didn’t get a chance to ask why, or whether iced tea is ok for them.

By the way, this coworker had a funny way of telling me he had become a Mormon. He asked me if I went to church, and I said yes. He said he had started going to church too. I asked what church. He said “Jehovah’s Witnesses church”. I said, “oh, really?”. He laughed and said “no, actually Mormon church”, and started telling me what he thought was cool about them.
