I don’t now what advice to give to you but I do feel sympathy because I receive social security disability benefits. I did not receive an in crease in benefits for the last 2 years yet the cost of living increases. I hope someone can give you some good advice on what to do.

This verse is in the Bible.

I think in the book of Philippians.

But my God shall supply all of my needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

If you would remarry and lose some of your benefits, perhaps
you might get help in other ways that you don’t have now such as help in paying your rent. food banks to get free food and clothing.

I hope someone knows more than I do and can help you.

You need to check with the social security office. The laws have changed. My mom married this year at 71 & kept her benefits.

You dont make your situation clear ,but if you are age sixty or older when you remarry you can still collect survivors benefits, but if you remarry earlier than that you disqualify yourself from them. 'You cant start collecting them before age sixty anyhow . The exception to that is if you`re younger and have minor children, then yes you can collect survivors benefits for yourself and the kids until they reach 18 or graduate from high school. But I am not sure from your post if your situation is that of an older or younger survivor, or actually the point of it because you asked no question.

Sarah is correct. Really if you are older and collecting survirpos benefits there is no reason to cohabitate and every reason to remarry.;however contact Social Security. If you`re younger and worried about your future benefits that sheds a different light on things and I would advise you to do some real soul searching.

That is Awesome! I love seeing older people like this finding love in their later years. 👍 Sweet! 👍

I’m not sure I understand the OP.

Is this the statement being made: " I love you dearly, but we can’t be married because then I’d lose my monthly government check. Obviously that’s more important than you, so I’m sure you understand we just have to live together."

If you’re the person putting the money first, please reconsider. If you’re the person playing second fiddle to the money, consider leaving. You can do better, you’re worth more than any Social Security check.
