In the statement “I worship You.”, the words are of increasing importance. In a hymn, “You” is the focus; in a song int tends to be one of the first two (which is why so-called “Christian Music” drives me nuts [in addition to the vapid lyrics and sappy sound in general, along with the atrocious theology, and . . .]).So how do you differentiate? Seems like a fine line to draw.
The general sing-song nature of a song weighs towards finding it that. The focus on happy-for-singing rather than reverence for God is another one.
Oh, and look at the credit–if it says 'S.J.", it’s usually not just a song, but a bad one
The lyrics are clever in a song, not in a hymn.
