Hello all,
I’m a baptized catholic y who spent most of his adult life beeing an agnostic. A couple of years ago however I start to “feel” there’s a God. I’ve been struggling with this since, trying to enforce the faith.
I went to the church a couple of weeks ago. First time attending Mass since my childhod. I must admit I got a little bored. There was a reading from Mark 13. When I arrived home, I open the Bible randomly and it opens there, Mark 13. I’ve been looking for “signs” and this may be the strongest one. Or just coincidence? What do you think about it?

Sorry for my bad english, Thank you all.

Whether it is a sign or not I don’t know…I would however read the passage for there may be something there that will lead you back to God without you feeling it is a “struggle”. Take “baby steps” if need be, go to Mass listen to the words of the priest during the Consecration or go into a church when the services are over or to a quiet open space and open your heart to Jesus who is there waiting. Will remember you in prayers. 🦋:butterfly:God Bless.

That’s grear that God is drawing you to return to Him and the church.

I don’t know if the Bible opening to the reading again was a sign or not , but perhaps you should not be looking so much for “signs” and instead be looking in your own heart to open it to God’s love and mercy. You could start by meditating on that reading, as it’s a good one whether coincidence or not.

I will pray for you. God bless

I believe in signs. I believe they are confirmations which God sends us in order to reinforce what you are feeling.

There are also counter signs, sent by the enemy, to keep you from going in the right direction. The closer you move to God, the more of those you will receive. Be mindful of that and push through them. If you persevere, they will go away. Mostly.

Pray often. I recommend the Rosary.

If you can, go and sit in front of the Blessed Sacrament for an hour and simply talk to Jesus. Tell Him you want to believe and help you with your unbelief. The Rosary is the best, but if that is too much for you to start praying daily, at least start and end each day with 3 Hail Mary’s. God Bless. Oh…I personally do not believe in coincidences.

That sounds like a blessing!
Sometimes yes, it can get boring especially for someone who isn’t used to it, and, it’s hard to find the motivation when you’re not really sure what to believe. I understand this completely. That is actually why I’ve recently created my account for this forum and for catholic.com. Since then, I’ve been getting answers that have confirmed my faith, and made me stronger as a Christian and a Catholic.

It is up to you, whether you take it as a sign or not, but I believe it is a sign. I think that God is giving you an opportunity to read through the passage yourself, so that you can experience the reading yourself instead of trying your best not to be bored in mass. There is something so strengthening and powerful about reading scripture in your spare time.

Bless you, I’m glad you’re trying your best to give God a chance.
Will be praying!

Hi, thank for your answer. Yes I think it was a sign. I mean how many pages has the Bible, tousands, what are the odds of landing exactly in the page the priest readed that same day?

Exactly! I’m glad you see it as a sign! May God bless you on this journey as you seek answers!

You said “trying to enforce the faith”. I thought, this person has already begun the journey. Already has made the gift active. Keep up the good work.

It has significance to YOU. So it s a sign…take it and go with it! Welcome Home!
