If I have a cold, life goes on for me. I still have to work and do laundry and grocery shopping and run errands. If I am not too sick to not to work, go shopping for groceries, or run errands, I am not sick enough to miss Mass. If I had a fever, I would stay home.
I use hand sanitizer, don’t shake hands, and don’t take from the cup. I regularly sit off to to the side, in the two person pew, sitting next to one or no other people. Only once have I had to blow my nose in Mass. I slipped out and blew my nose and then washed my hands before returning.
I don’t get sick very often, and it is hardly ever very bad. I’ve never had the flu and can’t remember the last time I ran a fever.
I understand that some people would be in serious trouble if they got sick, but shouldn’t they be avoiding all public places? Some people have germs and don’t know it, or don’t get sick but carry them anyway!
I am currently pregnant, so I am super careful about getting sick since I don’t want to have a fever (for the baby’s health!) or even get a cold (since I can’t take medicine!), but I don’t expect people to stay home with a common cold, the flu yes, but a cold? For most people, I understand, life goes on. I wash my hands often, don’t stand too close to people, etc, but that is about it.
