Hello everyone, I am sick, have been pretty much all week, it came on slowly. Monday I was a little run down with a low grade fever and slight body aches. I came home from work at about 3:00 and put my pj’s on and plopped down on the couch. Tuesday I woke up and felt great, but developed a cough (but no fever or body aches). Wednesday the cough was worse, caused a sore throat and loss of my voice (but still no fever or body aches). Thursday I only lasted at work for 3 hours came home with fever, body aches, runny nose and cough (no more sore throat though). Today I feel much better but still have a low grade fever (100.1). Little or no coughing and my nose isn’t running anymore. Does this sound like a cold or the flu to you? I haven’t been sick in so long I don’t remember what it feels like. At what point do you go to the dr.? Just cuious what you all think. Also are there any other sickies out there?

Hi azgirl–sorry you are sick.😦 I would say if a fever doesn’t subside, or if you feel like you’re progressively getting worse. At any rate–it can never ‘hurt’ to see a doc, when unsure. They won’t prescribe you an antibiotic, unless they truly feel you have an infection, and might provide you some prescription strength cough meds, or cold meds or something that might help a bit better than OTC meds. I would also try airborne–even in the midst of a cold/flu, it can lessen the duration, and it’s all natural. But, to answer your question, if you have been feeling this way for more than 2/3 days, seeing a doc wouldn’t be a bad idea…for your own peace of mind, too.

I will keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovery!!!

I am down with the sniffles and a bad cough this week, too. I even lost my voice for a few days. (Thank God for the Internet. 😛 )

I hope you get well soon! :highprayer:

Sounds like you are getting better now - so I’d skip the doctor visit this time for sure.

For me, I don’t go unless I’m sure it’s the flu, which hits you like a Mack truck right away. If you got real flu, there are drugs the doc can prescribe that will help with the flu virus. But go within the first day or so.

If it’s a cold, it’s also caused by a virus, but there are no meds that doctors can prescribe for them. For a cold, at the very first sign, I go for the ZICAM swabs every four hours day and night. That really helps. So does chicken soup. The only time I’d see the doc for a cold would be if it lingered for weeks and seemed to go into some kind of bacterial infection.

Now, the mods will probably shut this thread down pretty soon, because we’ve broken the rule about giving and receiving medical information. But I hope you get some help before that happens!
