Is there anything in Catholic theology concerning the possibility that there is a collective or universal subconscious? I know that Jung believed that there was and I’ve read some esoteric material that suggests there is a cosmic consciousness. If there is it might explain why some people believe they have past life memories or know information they could not have acquired through normal means, they are simply tapping into the universal subconscious. There is also the theory that there is a racial/inherited memory that people have. I’m not aware that this would contradict Christian Theology.

Everything in being, including the contents of all minds whether living or deceased, lies within the Mind of God. In that sense, there is a “universal” mind.

However, it is not accessible to mortal human life.

Anything universal has to involve God. He is omnipresent and has a pretty good memory since He is also all-knowing. To be everywhere and to know everything sounds pretty universal to me but not in the way Jung or a Universalist church member would define it.
