I was under the impression that Akiane’s family did become Catholic. I have seen several of her paintings and they are really good. I really don’t see any comparison to these two different types of experience. I think the father of the little boy did most of the writing and I was not impressed by the book. Haven’t seen the movie. The Catholic Church is very cautious as to what it jumps in on, even when the people involved in it are Catholic. You can’t expect the Church to get involved in everything someone decides to make a movie of. God Bless, Memaw
I don’t know if Akiane recently went through RCIA and has been baptised, but as far as her 2010 interview on KCTV she said she was nondenominational and that she found god on her own. There are a lot of red flags with her new age spirituality and although her art is good it may be leading to something not so much.

Hello! When our loved one was dying, I saw this movie, I watch others, I read from Catholic sites, spoke with my Priest, and read many books. I was curious! Death and life after death is something our Faith teaches us and yet it is a mystery none of us can realize until our time comes. I read a number of books: The Travel Guide To Heaven by Anthony Destafano (catholic author), Heaven is for Real, 90 MNs in Heaven, Proof of Heaven. Not all during our mom’s dying process; in fact I started with The Travel Guide - and when she was afraid I would ask if I could read her paragraphs from his book. Additionally, SHE gave us many Holy goosebumps that would never and could never be investigated - she told us at one point the Holy Mother was in the room with us. On a daily basis, she played with a little boy who she said had wings - she would ask…can’t you see him? I told her no, but I believed he was there. In her last couple of days of life and one morning after waking up she told me “He was here!” I asked, “Who was here?” She said, “Jesus!” Anyway, my husband and I also had an experience when we lived in our very first home and our daughter, just a little over 3 years old came to our room in a panic wanting to know where her Jesus went? She swears he was in her room speaking with her and when she turned around to get a doll to show him, he was gone. I trust in my Catholic Faith, but I am not judging. Our mom’s death was completely natural - I believe that she had these experiences. It also gives me great peace. I read about Padre Pio - his gift was to see his guardian angel while fully alive! Maybe Colton did have this experience, and maybe God is painting through Akiane. I think there are many modern day miracles that get swept under the carpet. Our world is in trouble - she openly admits the communication she received as a child has gone away. Is it dangerous to believe? Certainly if the Colton story is made up - God will work that out himself when they are judged. Anyway, these are my thoughts and our experience.
