Come to a Rorate Mass this Advent

I’d like to start this link for people looking to experience a Rorate Mass this Advent. If anyone knows of any being celebrated in the Southeastern Michigan area, please let us know.

I know that Assumption Grotto Church in Detroit will be celebrating this beautiful candlelight Mass in the Ordinary Rite on Tuesday nights in Advent at the 7pm Mass. The scheduled dates are December 4, 11, and 18, and you will either need to bring a candle or purchase one at the Church for $3.00. This Mass will be in latin and ad orientem, the closest that they can get without being TLM.

If anyone knows of any TLM Rorate being celebrated please let me know. I know the first day that a TLM Rorate can be celebrated is December 15. Thanks everyone and Gob bless!
 
I don’t get EWTN either, but they do have a live TV feed on their web site. It’s rebroadcasting at 6pm the same day.

EWTN to Air Tridentine Mass for Advent

Irondale, AL (EWTN) - EWTN Global Catholic Network will air a Solemn High Tridentine Mass, live from the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, Alabama on Saturday, December 15, at 8 AM ET .

Known as the Rorate Mass, the liturgy will be celebrated by clergy of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP). The Rorate Mass, so called because it begins with the words, “Rorate caeli desuper et nubes pluant iustum…” (“Drop down dew, ye heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain down upon the Just One…”), is a votive Mass offered within the season of Advent in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Celebrated by candlelight and traditionally held before dawn, this beautiful liturgy is esteemed particularly as part of the patrimony of the German-speaking peoples. Very Rev. Fr. John Berg, FSSP, the Superior General of the Priestly Fraternity, will travel from the community’s headquarters in Switzerland and will serve both as the celebrant and preacher. Priests and seminarians from Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary, the FSSP’s international seminary in North America, will also travel to Alabama to assist.

Pilgrim groups are invited to attend this public Mass, to be offered in the extraordinary form, and should visit the Shrine’s webpage (www.olamshrine.com) for information on accommodation options.

Actually, it’s “rain down the Just One”, not “rain down upon the Just One”. Just a nit, sorry.

Your nit is with EWTN then, I just copied and pasted.

Edit: I just looked in my Missal (Angelus) and it says “rain down the Just,” without the one.

That’s what it says in the Challoner Douay Rheims Bible:

Drop down dew, ye heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain the just: let the earth be opened, and bud forth a saviour: and let justice spring up together: I the Lord have created him.

Rorate caeli desuper et nubes pluant iustum aperiatur terra et germinet salvatorem et iustitia oriatur simul ego Dominus creavi eum

(Isaiah 45:8)

At any rate, “the just” and “the just one” mean the same thing.

Hmm…Just thought of something. What type of candle? I may head up to the Catholic Shop on Stephenson Hwy in Madison Heights tomorrow or Tuesday,
 
Was there last night and it was interesting. Could hardly read the music since I have a 10% tint in my glasses and the candle I had did not have a good flame.

I also see that the parish blogger has photos up on her site. I am assuming they were from last night by her description of the weather.
