“If any man would come after me, LET HIM DENY HIMSELF and take up his cross daily and follow me” Lk 9:23.

True “Change” comes not from a short term victory, but most often from the painful lessons learned as a result of defeat.

I am truly encouraged to hear numerous Catholics, including many Church leaders, stand up for the Truth and especially for the primordial issue; the protection of life!

Jesus did not shy away from confrontation, he did not compromise, he did not try to appease those who disagreed with Him.

He died on the Cross for our sins and rose in glory 3 days later.

It just goes to show that when you try to moderate, to appease, to be everyone’s friend, you actually water down your message and eventually betray their friendship.

If your 3 year old wants to run across a busy street to get ice cream do you let him?

If you truly love your brothers and sisters, you will stand firm in Jesus’ Truth, no matter how unpopular you become.

We have been bullied into silence and fear for our own selfish standing in the community and even in our own families in the name of tolerance.

This is a battle, we must put on our armor and stand up for what is right.

“Take your share of suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus” 2Tim 2:3.

There have already been over 48 million abortions in the US since Roe v. Wade.

48 MILLION INNOCENT BABIES “LEGALLY” MURDERED BY THEIR OWN MOTHERS AND FATHERS!!

No other issue, not all of the other issues combined,
not war, not hunger, not social injustice, none will matter at all if we will not defend innocent life. This is and has always been the teaching of the Catholic Church.

Our own family, friends and parishioners say, “I am pro-life, but I have no right to impose my beliefs and morals on others”.

Again, we are bullied and brainwashed by the secular society’s constant propaganda, that if we stand up for the Truth, we are mean, closed minded, bigoted, hateful, intolerant, racist…

We are called not to impose our beliefs on anyone, but to stand up fearlessly and tirelessly for the truth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God has give us all free will and many people who saw Jesus himself did not believe.

After his teaching on the Eucharist, even many of Jesus’ disciples left him.

“After this many of his disciples drew back and no longer walked with him.” Jn 6:66

We can force no one to believe what we believe, but we must preach and live the Gospel in all love and humility.

If we all rededicate ourselves to this cause, the cause of our Lord Jesus Christ, no matter what the cost to us personally, then we have done our part and the rest is in God’s hands.

I pray for God’s grace so that when my final day on earth comes I can say “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I HAVE KEPT THE FAITH.” 2 Tim 4:6.

This is so beautiful it nearly brought tears to my eyes… (If you only knew how rare that happens… )… (“nearly” becasue i am in a public place… so i don’t want to cry…)

I am so glad i have people like the (truly) Catholic ones here @ CAF… to share my grief with (over this election)… Actually, Grief isn’t even the word… or it is only one word, that is… The word seems to be DISTURBED …

and some of that feeling is not so easy to put my finger on… which makes me even more disturbed…

except that there IS a word for … for that which causes such feelings:

that word people hardly mention anymore… that person…

Satan.

Because a Christian President would make too much sense!

**In 1976, people voted for Jimmy Carter primarily because he was the “born-again Christian candidate” (though Watergate was still leaving a bitter after-taste).

And in 2000 and 2004, George Bush fils boasted about his being a Christian, cynically manipulated the feelings of pop-evangelicals…and look at the mess he made.**
If people say it on TV enough it must be true.

The economy is in trouble now. Just a year ago the stock market hit an all time high of 14,000. Most economic good times last shorter than sevens years.

Do not forget that the Republicans proposed two bills to fix the financial crisis. Obama did nothing about it except write a letter. The Democrats voted against both proposals without creating an alternative. Franks was having an affair and Dodd took a sweetheart loan. Obama took donations. Note Obama also participated in sub-prime mortgages with Acorn.

The deficit is the result a couple of major intitiatives. One of them being holding prescription medication down for senior citizens; which, was one of his election promises. The second was the war. After JFK, Jimmy Carter created the mess in Iraq and Iran we have been dealing with this issue ever since. Bush might not have been right when he thought mulsims would embrace Democracy; however, it was the first time someone tried something new over there. In the past we would either put a dictator in to kill people or as Clinton did watch us be attacked 5 times without doing anything. (Remember the World Trade Center was attack with him in office too.)

Everyone states that we did a horrible job with Katrina. We evacuated people from a land mass larger than Great Britain. Did we do it well. No, however, know one ever expected a catastrophe of this size. Remember that the Democrats in LA spent all of the federal funding given them to fix the levies on other things. This is a fact as I have family there and a family member that actually works on the levies and the funding.

I grow weary of selective memory.

Bush might not have been right when he thought mulsims would embrace Democracy;

At the Catholic church I attend, the priest and his wife are from the Middle East. (He’s from Egypt; I don’t know about Khourieh.) She said that Mahometans especially do not understand Western style democracy and simply don’t want it.

Bush might not have been right when he thought mulsims would embrace Democracy;

now, because of the O-Man (Obama  )… we in a democracy will have to embrace the Islamic religion…

i don’t know… i just get this weird feeling…

St. Jude!!!

St. Jude!!!

:banghead:

I voted for Obama. I voted for change that might help those who can do little for themselves right now. If it’s all about the pro life, pro choice issue for some of you, then I guess it is what it is but I look at so much more. Besides, McCain is not really pro life, his past record proves that simply. Anyone can be anything tongue and cheek.

you are just like so many americans… you care more about $ than about life…

If you think the change for those who can do little, then you think for those who can do nothing - the unborns - they are among us.

Then maybe we would get a Christian president… or at least one who is not socialist… (neo-communist)…
I would not have voted for Obama, if I had been American, because of a multitude of other issues (primarily “abortion” and gay “marriage”, but foreign policy issues was also a huge part of it!), but calling him a socialist is downright ridiculous. He’s more left-wing than McCain, but nowhere near a socialist.
In Europe, he would be somewhere between Social-Liberal and Social-Democrat, I think. But socialist? Not a chance. And “neo-Communist” is even further down the garden path. Just nonsense, with due respect.

True, but had McCain won, he would have had to take the Christian stance on “abortion” and gay “marriage”, whether he liked it or not. And I would have preferred that, to someone who can now pursue both with all the might at his disposal.

My own opinion is the frequent and numerous marriages and divorces and remarriages by heterosexuals–including a number of Catholics on these fora–have done a number on traditional marriage already.

The priest and his WIFE? I thought RC priests were to remain celibate?

Is it really the end of the world now that Obama is the president elect? Has anyone thought of what would actually change if McCain was going to be in office? I can assure you that not much will change. It is not the end of america. For those of you who voted solely on social issues(abortion), things like this would still be available to those who wanted it.

Just curious. Why is/was excited for Palin?

No, it is not the end of the world. In fact, the intention of the founders was that who was president would/ should have very little effect on the life of the average American, since the constitution gave the central government very few and very finite powers in domestic affairs. The chronic overstepping of constitutional powers (and therefore the limitation of individual rights) by the central government has been going on long before the president-elect was born. Whether or not he continues in the expansion of that tend (his rhetoric implies he will) is concerning, but I will still attempt to live my life in the same way after his becoming president as I have before it.

The excitement for Palin, at least for conservatives, comes from the perception, true or not, that she is in the mold of Ronald Reagan, something John McCain and W are not.

There are Catholic priests who are converts from other traditions that allow the clergy to marry, like Anglicans and Lutherans.

Jon
Ah, and a priest who was married before his conversion would of course still be married after it…gotcha 🙂

just because the Constitution doesn’t allow for something does not mean it won’t happen… History has proven that over and over… and i get the feeling you know that, by the way you word things… the Constitution is violated at every turn, particularly by the supreme Court… which makes laws and changes laws made by the states, something it WAS NOT ever supposed to do… that’s how Roe v Wade got decided… and Barack said in one of the debates that he thinks R v W is a good law!!! To me, this shows he has NO respect for the Constitution or the way this country was originally intended to do things… That alone would scare the crud out of me… and it does…

If you are allowed to…

As i said elsewhere… if this country doesn’t respect its most helpless, innocent members… it won’t respect anyone else… (for long).
I don’t know why all those voters didn’t realize this but then again, maybe i do… abortion has just been legal too long (and most americans don’t think too deeply… I am convinced of that…)

?
nobody WANTS an abortion…

like they WANT ice-cream…

Nobody ever benefits from abortion… so why is it legal???

Because the people on the Sup Ct in 73 were… hmmm… I don’t know…? Maybe they had a personal agenda… God knows… they could have wanted abortion legal because some day they may have some “unwanted pregnancy” situation in their own lives to contend with…
