Is this good…or ultimately bad?
I think it has potential to be either, but I think it tends to be bad.
I come from a high-Church Anglican background. The small splinter denomination I was once a part of was called the “Anglican Catholic Church.” We did the whole Catholic thing (rosaries, etc) without being “Catholic.” But, for many, it *felt *Catholic. We felt a connection to traditional Apostolic Christianity.
But, now I realize that I was only “playing” Catholic. But for years, this was enough. I eventually was drawn to a deeper understanding, which led me to Rome. But, for most others, this never happened.
For some, “playing” Catholic will tingle their soul to seek more. But, I think, most folks will be satisfied that they don’t need the Catholic Church to be a full part of Apostolic Christianity.
