Coming Home!!!!!

I guess this goes here.šŸ˜ƒ My name is Ed and Iā€™ve come to a crossroad in my life,
I made the call today to my local chruch and the Deacon will be calling me on monday, Iā€™ve started to take the steps toward becoming apart of the church.šŸ‘

Iā€™m a christian, I was raised a christian and baptized, but have floated from church to church belief system to beleif system. After a long hard look into myself and my life and what God had done for me in my life the choice was made.

God has brought me through alot in the last year, and I guess with the passing of my Grandfather this past summer, Iā€™ve felt myself drawn to the church Grandpop was Catholic šŸ‘ ] He shared his faith with me through the years he was no saint mind you] but He Loved the Lord and the Church.

So far my family is ok with the choice Iā€™ve made, I will need help with my Dad:eek: , I donā€™t think he will mind just wont understand but in time I think he will come around.
Please Keep me in your Prayers.

It is such a great joy for the whole Church and Heaven to know that you are coming home!!!:harp: I know I take this great news to have a good sleep.

Tonight,I went to my Praise & Worship group and prayed for some of us here, who are also on the way Home! and thank God for that.

It is a blessing for us to read those lines that you posted and other similar posts. It lifts up our spirit a lot!

Be loving and be patience to your dad and your family. You are in my prayer.

You could search for posts of a username called ā€œrevelationsā€ - he is in RCIA now, and hope you could get some of his answers, feelings, and how to deal with family members and different things ā€“ you might go through the similar things.

Let us know how things go on Monday and please keep us posted.

Trust the Lord that He is always with you on your faith journey.

:extrahappy: YAHOO!!! I too am on the journey. I was raised and baptized an evangelical Protestant. About a year ago, when planning a move to a new city, I prayed God would show me the church where He wanted me and started researching Protestant churches. For the first time in my life, rather than go where my family and/or friends were going, I decided to do my own research and find a strong ā€œBible-basedā€ church. So, I began to dig deep into the foundation of Protestant doctrine and became frustrated with the lack of definite truth (how do you know which church is true if every one uses the Bible and arrives at such drastically different places?! Ahhh, sola scripturaā€¦). About the same time, a friend at work invited me to Mass during our lunch hour, quite out of the blue; I couldnā€™t think of an excuse not to go and, knowing virtually nothing about the Catholic Church, except for a couple Protestant myths, I accepted. That peaked my curiousity, so I began to research Catholicism (of course, my rationale was to be able to confirm why the Catholic Church was wrong and so I could dialogue with my friend). Long story short, the more I studied, the more I realized I had found what I didnā€™t even know I was missing. Thanks be to God! He certainly answered my prayer in a way I never would have expected! Right after my move, I found a parish and contacted the RCIA coordinator. I will enter into full communion with the Catholic Church this Easter.

I am glad to hear your loved ones are taking it well so far. My family and friends are not so excited. The reactions have varied from concern to outright hostility. But I know I am on the right track with God, so I keep walking, praying for them, offering up the challenges, and asking for forgiveness when I get fed up and react in a way I shouldnā€™t (though, by the grace of God, that is happening less).

Welcome to CAF - during my inquiry, I got hooked on Catholic radio, especially Catholic Answers. Unfortunately, my new town doesnā€™t have Catholic radio, so I get my fix by listening to Catholic Answers by podcast and logging on here to see what the CAF community is discussing. I always learn something new and love the connections Iā€™ve made.

Your post echoes the experiences of many of us whoā€™ve come from Protestant backgrounds. Isnā€™t it amazing how God leads you home once you stop trying to blaze a trail and let Him lead instead?! šŸ‘

When you say your grandpa was ā€œno saintā€ - be sure to study some of the saints livesā€¦you will find some colorful characters there - real examples of how we can turn our lives aroundā€¦not any of them were sin-free:)
And with the help with your fatherā€¦my husbandā€™s grandparents were Baptist Ministers - both of them! He became a Catholic before I met him on his own and he did it because when he began to question some of the things he was taught about the Church, he was surprised at how he had been misled. It has taken a while, but his family understands his choice and since we are both open to any/every question, we spend a lot of time talking about it with them when they visitā€¦Just be ready for lots of questions and when you donā€™t know the answer, be honest and say that you will find out the answer, ask a priest or the leader of your RCIA class and then return and share the answer. Welcome again and may you find many blessings on your journey!

Thereā€™s also www.relevantradio.com, the website for a series of Catholic stations in various markets in the U.S. There are several good programs there, some related to Scripture, some to Catholic life, some to world events from a Catholic perspective. Give 'em a try.

Welcome! When we hear of Catholic bashing and those turning away from the Church we need to remember there are always people like you., new to the Church who are joining the Body of Christ.

I do believe relevent radio still carries the program Light of the East with Fr. Loya of Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church in Illinois. The programs are usually pretty good and as a new Catholic this is a good way for you to learn a little about the Eastern Catholic Churches.
