My friend I have had a similar issue except mine was I am leaving A protestant church that is headed by a man I would consider to be one of my best friends and the one who actually led me to a better understanding of God and our Lord Jesus. It was hard to make the leap and tell him what I was going to do. When I did he didn’t take it to well and wanted to discuss or more like debate it with me.
The advise I can give you is your your path to eternity is your path. I would never let a friend or family member deter where God called me to be. If they love you they will get over it. I wouldn’t debate the Church with them. I would left them up in prayer and share all the new things you are experiencing. I finally start RCIA next Sunday and I am so excited.
Also see if your church has the Catholicism series by Father Robert Barron, I think the first 2 Videos may be a good watching with some of your less aggressive family members so they can see that many of the CC beliefs are the same. The first episode are on Jesus and the Peter and Paul.
