Coming of the holy spirit?

I have a question on pentacost, seems in johns gospel Jesus breathed the holy spirit on the apostles before he ascended while acts states the holy spirit came while they were in the upper room? which is it?

Both are considered pentecosts, but the second one in the book of Acts was actually on the date of the Jewish festival Pentecost.

Baptism is also a special infusion of the Holy Spirit.

Why did God manifest this special infusions of the Holy Spirit at baptism and Pentecost?
Perhaps to remind us that the grace of the Holy Spirit’s indwelling is a gift which we don’t deserve just because we exist, but is given to us when we ask for us. Both are commemorated by sacraments; baptism and confirmation.\

Before Pentacost the Christians were afraid. They locked themselves in the upper room for fear of the Jews.

After Pentacost they spoke out boldly. Peter stood up first and spoke to the crowd, eventually going so far as to stand up to the supreme Jewish council, the Sanhedrin, which had the power of life or death. Stephen too was not afraid to speak out even up to the moment of his own martyrdom.

Pentacost is when the disciples were given power - power to face the world without fear, and to proclaim God boldly.

Jesus said they would be His witnesses in Judea, Samaria and to the uttermost ends of the Earth.

He breathed on them and made them His witnesses.

Pentecost the witness goes forth in Jerusalem.

Then the Spirit falls on the Centurion (the first Gentiles but a God fearer).

Then on the Samaritans.

Then on the Ephesians.

The Apostles received their authority directly from Jesus and then the incidental manifestations of the Holy Spirit elsewhere were in keeping with Jesus command of the Great Commission which were as much for the Apostles as for the believers.

But the Authority of the Apostles and by extension of the Church comes directly from Christ Himself which none of those who experience the speaking in tongues received but only the Apostles.

In John’s narration, immediately after Jesus breathed on them, He said “whose sins you forgive they are forgiven and whose sins you retain, those are are retained.” I always took this to mean that this was the moment He gave them the power to forgive sins and the sign was his breathing His power into them.

Anyone…right or wrong?
