I have a question on pentacost, seems in johns gospel Jesus breathed the holy spirit on the apostles before he ascended while acts states the holy spirit came while they were in the upper room? which is it?
Jesus said they would be His witnesses in Judea, Samaria and to the uttermost ends of the Earth.I have a question on pentacost, seems in johns gospel Jesus breathed the holy spirit on the apostles before he ascended while acts states the holy spirit came while they were in the upper room? which is it?
In John’s narration, immediately after Jesus breathed on them, He said “whose sins you forgive they are forgiven and whose sins you retain, those are are retained.” I always took this to mean that this was the moment He gave them the power to forgive sins and the sign was his breathing His power into them.I have a question on pentacost, seems in johns gospel Jesus breathed the holy spirit on the apostles before he ascended while acts states the holy spirit came while they were in the upper room? which is it?
I think that absolutely rightIn John’s narration, immediately after Jesus breathed on them, He said “whose sins you forgive they are forgiven and whose sins you retain, those are are retained.” I always took this to mean that this was the moment He gave them the power to forgive sins and the sign was his breathing His power into them.
Anyone…right or wrong?
