I don’t know if this is the correct forum, but I hope that someone can help me. I am returning to the Church after having practiced Voodoo/Witchcraft and have an altar in my bedroom on a built-in piece of furniture. I also have a drawer of supplies left.

What would be the best way to get rid of the supplies (candles, incense, herbs, offerings, etc.) and the Tarot cards? I had thought of burning or burying them, but I don’t have an appropriate place to do either. What would be the best way to cleanse the piece of furniture since I cannot rip it out of the wall (rented apartment)?

Thanks very much.

Pax,
Cherry

The advice in the quoted section below is from Bro. Ignatius Mary over on the St. Pio Center for Deliverance Counseling. I highly recommend in addition to following the steps below, visiting the “help” section of his site and following the Seven Steps to Self-Deliverance.

Seven Steps to self-deliverance:

Procedure to Destroy Occult Items
  1. Bless the object with Holy Water
  1. Destroy the object so that it no longer resembles what it was. If burnable, then burn it, if glass, break it up into pieces, if some other material, take it apart or damage it as best you can.
  1. Dig a hole in the ground and place the remains of the object in the hole, sprinkle the remains with Holy Water once more, place a St. Benedict medal on top of the remains (if burying the object is not possible, bless it with Holy Water and then throw it in the garbage, but first wrap it in newspaper or something so that a person looking through the garbage will not casually see what it is), and then pray the following prayer:
Father in heaven, we ask you to bind and cast away from our entire family and all those who have come into contact with these material any demonic entities that may have been attached to these materials. We plead the blood of Jesus over these materials and take back any ground the Evil One may have snatched from us because of the presence of these materials in our home. Strengthen, O Lord, the hedge of protection around our family and around each of us. Bless our family, O Lord. Help us to love You more. We also ask that you be with the person who gave us these materials and free them from any bondage. Help them to understand Your ways and bless them. We ask these things with the intercessions of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, Blessed St. Michael the Archangel, and all the Saints and Angels of Heaven, and powerful in the Holy and Mighty name of your Son, Jesus Christ, whose name causes hell to tremble. Amen.
  1. Fill in the hole burying the remains of the materials.
  1. Forget about it, it is gone.
  1. If sin was committed (using the object) then confess that in the Sacrament.
  1. After receiving absolution and doing your penance, then renounce your involvement in these things occultic and take back the ground Satan stole as a result of your sin or in even the mere ownership of the object:
Dear Heavenly Father, strengthened by the intercession of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of Blessed Michael the Archangel, of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and all the Saints and Angels in Heaven, and powerful in the holy authority if His Name, I cancel all ground that evil spirits… have gained through my willful involvement in sin (OR, have gained by my ownership of ___________). I reclaim that ground and my life for Christ. Amen.
Keep in mind that this procedure is not magick. The primary power of the sacramentals (holy water and the medal) is in your faith. The sacraments do have a secondary effect in that they are items that have been blessed and made holy by God. Demons do not like being around such things.
Destroying the item so that it no longer resembles what it once was removes the attachment that it had for the demons, or the curse, or whatever.
Even with blessed items like a Rosary, once the Rosary falls apart or is taken apart and no longer resembles a rosary, the blessing that was attached to the Rosary is no longer there.
Bury it in the ground as the earth has this symbolizes a cleansing from the good earth.
As far as the altar itself goes, I don’t know the answer to that, so I suggest visiting either the Q&A forum, or joining the Spiritual Warfare forum over on

saint-mike.org/spcdc/forums.asp

and Bro. Ignatius will answer your question directly.

Yes, follow becky’s advice!

I will pray for you Cherry…May God bless you for seeking the truth.

As for the altar… Hey, just ask Brother about it on his Q&A forum. Let us know what he says!

My first instinct was Holy Water, but the process above seems much more…complete. LoL. Blessed Salt may be a good sacramental here as well; Holy Water washes/cleanses/purifies and Blessed Salt preserves/maintains/prevents. You could sprinkle Holy Water and then sprinkle some Blessed Salt to prevent demons from coming back to something that they were attracted to before.

And though I hate these ‘kits’, this has the basic idea I’d like to suggest as well:

I have a St. Benedict medal above my door. His medals are used in exorcisms, and you can buy a crucifix with his medal inserted into the cross behind Christ.

great replies!
Don’t forget to ask a priest to bless your home.

God bless you!

Dear Becky,
Thank you so much for the information :blessyou: . I was so concerned about how to dispose of the items without leaving them for someone else to find (however accidentally). And I appreciate having some specific words to say, too. The resource is very helpful.
Love,
Cherry

Thank you again Cherry. Your post’s brought lots of joy for many especially entire Heaven! Your coming back to the Church also gives us hope and motivation to pray for many others.

I remember you in my daily prayer. Keep your faith strong!

God bless!

Thank you so much for your prayers; I definitely need them as the temptations are great! :blessyou: I have posted my question at the site Becky recommended, and I will let you all know the instructions.
I’m so glad I decided to ask for help here at the Catholic.com forums!
Love,
Cherry

Dear Rawb,
Thank you for your idea about the Blessed Salt and the St Benedict medal. Although I have obtained some Holy Water, I had not considered Blessed Salt. I enjoyed reading your blog, BTW; you’re a very good writer 👍 .

Dear Water,
Thanks for your reply :angel1: . I would very much like to have a priest bless my home. I don’t know if they do that at my parish (Jesuit). I had my confession there and the priest didn’t want to know “the whole roster” as he put it. I made a very sincere Act of Contrition, and the priest did absolve me, though, and that’s the important thing. I will ask to see if someone can bless my home; at least the parish will know it is desired.
Love,
Cherry

Dear Water,
Your post uplifted my heart ❤️ ! Life here at home hasn’t been easy–it’s as if the spirits who were previously welcome don’t want to let go. But I have faith and am greatly blessed to have the new information with a procedure to follow for ridding my home of these objects. Thank you so much for the continued prayer. When I was involved in the voodoo/witchcraft, I knew it was wrong and knew that people were praying for me.
Love,
Cherry

You are very welcome, Cherry. Yes, try to ask a priest or deacon and set up an appointment so that he can go to your home and bless it. I have done that with my apartment about 6 months ago. If this is not possible at your parish, I think you may ask another parish’s priest or deacon to do that for you.

Following Jesus is no easy task but with Him, anything is possible. We should continue praying and ask the Lord to give us faith, hope, and love - with these, we will overcome problems.

Keep us informed.
Thanks and God bless you!

Thank you! I had forgot about it. Maybe I’ll start updating it again.

Oh the Jesuits…they can be the true upright priests they’ve been known to have been since the formation of their order, or…well…we’ll just say ‘not’. If they won’t bless your home, another priest will.

I should’ve mentioned, you can find St. Benedict Crucifixes as well, it’s a crucifix, but in the center behind the head of Christ a St. Benedict medal is engraved or enlayed or whatever the term is. That might be particularly useful; demons hate the sight of a Crucifix.

It looks like you’ve received good advice.

Welcome home sister ;):):hug1:

Wiccan religion is simply worshipping Nature. What’s wrong with that?

No it is not.

Paganism is worshipping nature.

Wiccan is a broad term used. Some Wiccans may worship nature, see the way to use the forces of nature to change things, etc. some invoke gods and goddesses in their circles. Again, very broad and can not be described as just worshipping nature.

My sister is Wiccan. She will put binding spells on people, etc. That’s really not worshipping nature, that’s worshipping yourself, in my opinon.

Peace and God bless.

If she is doing binding spells, she is invoking demons (whether or not she knows this) to do her bidding.

I know Becky…and I’m not sure she really knows.

I meant to say, my Sister In Law.

Anyway, for the past month, whenever I have felt led, I have been praying some of the Spiritual Warfare prayers with her in mind. Mentioning her name, etc. Well, last week, she had a nervous breakdown at her job. (long story, but I was involved because she works for me, and I asked her to do a simple task that actually would protect her from resentment of the other employees)… She went off! She replied to me in an email…FINE, I’ll do it. Real ugly. Then she ran to the bathroom crying, I am told, because I wasn’t there. She then went back into her office, throwing stuff around, grabbed her purse and yelled at the girl that also works there…I’m going home The girl said that SIL was freaking out and she had never seen her like this, that she even looked different. I can’t help but wonder if her influences were upset with my prayers.

What makes me really upset is that she mentions binding and cursing to the girl as well. I’m letting it all die down and I may have to confront her. She’s definitely not one to ask or even want prayers of deliverance. She has no idea what she’s doing and she’s just seeking something to make her feel better, but really, it’s all just making her more angry, more hard to get along with and yep, can’t help but wonder what kind of hold these influences have on her.

I have no idea what all she’s been doing or how deep she is. Her husband told my husband that he’s had strange feelings in the house for a few months. I really pray that we are not dealing with a demon here, only time will tell.

When I get back from a trip next week, I’m going to contact the local Priest (it’s all far away) and ask him to come bless the store.
