"Coming Out Prayer Service" at a Basilica!

This is coming directly from Fr. Dale Karogi, and is an “official” acknowledgment by the Basilica of St. Mary, by way of their official group “Boulevards” approving of the homosexual lifestyle.

As if St. Joan of Arc wasn’t scandalous enough for our Archdiocese. Of course, since nothing is ever done there either, or at St. Stephen’s in Minneapolis, or at St. Frances Cabrini (where the Mass isn’t even valid!) or at any of the other parishes around here where heterodoxy runs rampant, I don’t know why any of us should ever think that this might be of concern to our cheefully-walking-with-the-sinner-all-the-way-to-hell Archbishop.

As the body of Christ, the Catholic Christian community is called to welcome all people. The Basilica of Saint Mary warmly welcomes all, including gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, and encourages them to participate in the life of the parish. Boulevards provides a forum for discussing relevant faith issues. It is a social setting for meeting other gays and lesbians and it provides them with a gateway to increased participation in the Basilica parish.

Boulevards, a fully integrated part of the Basilica community, is a group of committed Christians, grounded in tradition, who explore, promote and mend the relationship between the church and GLBT people. Primarily serving members of the GLBT community, this group stands out for living the gospel message of reconciliation within the context of the faith community. It is active in both the parish and GLBT communities through social activities and service projects. It establishes and builds ecumenical and interfaith partnerships. The group also serves as a sanctuary where members of the GLBT community can socialize, deepen the integration of their spirituality and sexuality, and discern their unique call to ministry within the parish and community at large.

Boulevards meets on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00pm. Details of each month’s event are published in Boulevards News and in the parish Bulletin.

Members may participate in Boulevards at a variety of levels of commitment. Some require little commitment and can be done from time to time, such as helping to set up the meeting space or contributing refreshments. Others require more commitment, such as helping to plan events or serving as a contact person for potential members. Your talents are welcome.

That’s some special kind of sick.

I did notice that other than this “deepening” they didn’t say exactly what the sexual deviants would get to do, so technically they haven’t endorsed their lifestyle. They sure make it sound like they’re going to, though, so if they are not going to endorse those lifestyles then this is borderline false advertising.

I was talking to a my cousin who’s daughter is in the 1st grade at a Catholic School in Minneapolis. She said that she loves it that her daughter is learning very little about what it means to be “Catholic” but more what it means to be “Christian.” She said the Catholic Churches in Minneapolis are getting away from being so bogged down in Catholic theology and more into being “Christian.”

**Orlando Diocese Launches Gay/Lesbian Ministry **

“We may have hurt or wounded our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters through ignorance or misunderstanding,” announced Orlando Bishop Norbert Dorsey. Citing the existence of an imagined “unwelcome” mood in Roman Catholic churches, the Bishop expressed his extreme regret that “many of them (gays and lesbians) have felt that the church was not welcoming and not interested.”

“In the name of our church,” he said, addressing approximately 200 worshippers at a special gay and lesbian community Mass in the Church of the Annunciation, “if that (hurt or wounding) has happened to any one of you, I ask your pardon and the pardon of God.”

The Orlando Diocese gay and lesbian ministry now becomes one of approximately 30 of such gay and lesbian ministries established in 200-odd Catholic dioceses in the United States. It becomes part of a national movement within the Roman Catholic Church to reach out to the spiritual needs of the homosexual community. The Church’s strategic move is significant because it contrasts with the prejudicial edict promoted by John Cardinal O’Connor of New York, who, several years ago, banished gay/lesbian Dignity groups from New York’s Roman Catholic churches. Dignity, an international association, was the first Catholic gay and lesbian group to meet regularly on church premises. It made pioneering attempts to reform the anti-gay policies promoted by the top echelon in the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church.

In spite of the best of intentions on the part of Bishop Dorsey, who seems to offer an olive branch in hopes it will bring straying Catholics back to the Roman fold, even his associates in this newly-evolving movement admit that what the Catholic clergy now offers hardly goes far enough to satisfy the spiritual needs of gay men and lesbians who live full lives as such. Father James Schexnayder, of the National Association of Catholic Diocesan Lesbian and Gay Ministries, admits that the Church’s position on homosexuality still limits same-sex love in ways unacceptable to men and women who have effectively come out of their closets. He hopes, he says, that these people will feel that “its still essential that they be active as Catholics.”

“What does this mean?” asks one estranged Catholic who no longer attends masses, “We’re still not allowed to have sex.” Another “fallen away” Catholic, Patty Sheehan, a one-time candidate for the Orlando City Council, says that the new ministry does not go far enough to encourage her return to church environs. “It’s progress,” she told the Orlando Sentinel, “but what kind of progress is it? I’d rather go somewhere where I’m welcome for what I am than have to go somewhere where I’m expected to change.”

Roman Catholic doctrine still condemns same-sex love-making because it opposes any sexual activity outside of marriage. But the church condemns same-sex marriage too.

This doesn’t suprise me at all. I grew up in the Minneapolis St.Paul area. It seems the whole Church is falling into traps like this, not just the diocese of Minneapolis. I look at the prophesies of Marie-Julie Jahaney and wonder how the Church can ignore them. I’m not saying that this is exactly what the Lord was talking about through her but you have to wonder. I love the Church and it really breaks my heart to see this happening.

And there’s the rub. Our Lord and Savior surely accepts us just as we are, but HE DOESN’T LEAVE US AS WE ARE!!! This is the danger of the whole “I’m OK, you’re ok, anything goes, let’s not be judgemental” mindset. C.S. Lewis said something similar about Christianity being embraced in India, with its traditional pantheon of gods. He said you couldn’t just add Jesus into the pantheon, that’s syncretism. You have to follow Christ and walk away from the pantheon. I think we’ve got the same type of cultural/spiritual syncretism going on here. God help us if some in the hierarchy have bought into this.

Heterosexuals have very few partners and live a real lot longer.
Sounds like the alternative lifestyle is not so satisfying and fulfilling as some make out. We need to pray for our bishops. And they need to respond to the graces God gives them.

“Christian” as in what? A Christianity minus Priests or Sacraments? That uncannily resembles what Martin Luther had in mind for the Church in his day. So it appears 500 years later his agenda is finally being implemented in many “Catholic” schools of the St. Paul/Minneapolis Archdiocese, though I’m sure even he would never approve of the so called “sex-ed” taught in most of them.

The American Catholic Church is in trouble, but I didn’t realize how bad until I read that. I originally thought it was something from the C of E (they have a "Catholic Gay group meeting in an Anglican Parish. So, I had to read it a couple of times before i got that it was the CATHOLIC Cathedral that was holding this abomination.

The Pope will propbably have to do something NO Pope has done in a LONG time, declare an Archbishop and those who work with him to be in Heresy, remove him from the head of the Archdiocese, and replace with an ORTHODOX CATHOLIC Archbishop.

I’m afraid that he may have to do this with more than a few Archdioceses in this country, and that it may just be the beginning of the Great Apostacy that was foretold by the Church Fathers and other Prophets and Mystics.

We do know one thing, that Seminaries that teach the Dogma of the Church as true have WAITING LISTS for admittance and that those that don’t can’t buy students!

To confirm this - What’s the situation of vocations in that Archdiocese? How bad is their priest shortage?

At this rate, if the Church doesn’t get busy she could easily lose what’s left of her moral credibility on the whole gay marriage issue, or worse yet she could soon have renegade bishops performing the ceremonies.

Minneapolis-St Paul is a mixed bag. My impression is that is good is VERY VERY good and what is bad is VERY VERY bad. I love the Cathedral of St Paul, and St Agnes, and there’s St Paul’s in Ham Lake. There’s a bunch of adoration chapels in the diocese, NET ministries is based there and they have a huge monthly youth mass and great speakers. My sister lives 2 blocks from Holy Family in St Louis Park (unfortunately she doesn’t go there, but I do when I visit). My other sister goes to Joan of Arc when she feels like going to church. She loves it because it fits her beliefs (completely liberal).but she can still claim to go to a Catholic church.

Good heavens, this sounds like the Church in Minnesota is like a club running a membership drive, instead of being the refuge of sinners wanting to reform their lives and be more Christ-like!! Next thing you know they’ll be offering a free toaster if you show up at Mass.
