Dear Friends in Christ,
I am a Roman Catholic very interested in Eastern Christian practices and have heard of Commemoration books being used, both as part of the Divine Liturgy and in private use at home as well. It is this latter use I am interested in learning about.
I found a webpage that describes how to set the book up and list persons by various categories, for both the living and the dead. What I don’t know is just how this book is made use of in prayer. A prayer is given for each section. Does one pray that prayer and then proceed to pronounce all the names on that page? Is there any kind of invocation following each name?
Other questions on the same topic: Is/was this practice common among Eastern Christians? How often is it usually done, daily? Any other factors regarding how this is used or done?
Thanks and God bless!
