I will continue my comparisons next week. I will try to show that the description of the city in Revelation and the human cranium are similar to St. Peter’s Basilica, the central church in Christianity.

My father - SDA’ish background - use to think the woman in Revelations was Mary giving Jesus to the nations, or her crown of 12 stars was of the 12 tribes. I’m too tired to remember all the details. His church (also seventh day apart from SDA) believed in the 2nd, saying it’s not Mary. However, we both agree now that it’s obviously both. We live too much in an either-or society. A lot of the debate questions can be “this-and”. I never heard of this one from the SDA church, but their leader Ellen White is proven as a false prophet, so I wouldn’t really listen to her.

The wall was built of diamond, and the city of pure gold, like clear glass.
I am resuming my comparison of the City of God to the human skull and brain.
The wall is my symbol for the skull, very hard.
The vault (calvarium) of the skull covers and protects the brain which weighs about 1300 to 1400 grams. The calvarium is separated from the cortex of the brain by the meninges. They are in layers like in the diagram (not the true colors of course). The dura mater is tough, fibrous, and you cannot see through it.
The next layer is the arachnoid and is transparent. It covers a thin layer of cerebrospinal fluid on the surface of the brain. The surface of the brain cortex/convolutions is covered by a thinner transparent layer call the pia.

The outer part of the brain is the “gray matter” containing billions of neurons and trillions of synpapses (connections) between the neurons. The neurons are our thinking cells that operate with electrochemical pulses.
The living brain on the surface is faintly pink. But gold stains are used by doctors and technicians who study specimens of brain (biopsies or post mortem samples). The gold stain makes the neurons easier to visualize.

Thus the symbols in Revelation could be describing a heavenly model for the human brain.

I second the David Currie book as a very in-depth analysis, which focuses on dispensationalism. He’s very good on showing how the same symbolism appears throughout both the OT and NT.

“The last verse in Revelation 11 is 11:19 and states, “Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the Ark of his covenant could be seen in the temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder, an earthquake, and a violent hailstorm.” This brings us to Revelation 12 and John sees the divine temple in the heavenly Jerusalem and the real Ark of the New Covenant. And that’s what he describes, he doesn’t just say, oh I see the Ark and let’s just forget about that and we’ll shift over to this woman. If he’s seeing the Ark, he’s describing the Ark and his description of the Ark is of the woman who bears the male child in verse 5, “She gave birth to a son, a male child, destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod.” Now who is this? Some say it’s the OT synagogue daughter, Zion, others say it’s the Church. I’d say both are right but in addition to those truths, there’s a higher truth that ties them together and that is, this woman is the Blessed Virgin Mary. Why, because in this vision, there are 4 characters. There’s the woman, there’s the male child who is to rule the nations, there’s also Satan in the form of a dragon with 7 heads and 10 horns and there’s Michael the Archangel. Now we know the male child is Jesus, an individual person, but it’s also a symbol of the whole Davidic dynasty, because it quotes Psalm 2, verse 9, which is applicable to every Davidic king, most especially to Jesus. So it refers to Jesus but it also is a symbol of this corporate reality, the Davidic kingdom. Likewise, Satan, the great dragon, certainly refers to an individual personage, the fallen angel himself, Satan. But he has 7 heads and 10 horns which symbolize the earthly empires that he uses to make war against God’s people. Likewise, Michael the Archangel, who makes war against this dragon but he doesn’t do it alone, he does it with all the angelic hosts, all of the armies of heaven, of which he is their head representative. So you have representative heads here, Jesus, the representative head of the Davidic dynasty, Satan, the representative head of the fallen angels, Michael, the representative head of the angels who make war against evil. And so Mary is the representative head of the Church. The church is called to be a virgin bride of Christ and yet mother church, a fruitful mother. How can the Church be both? Only one person was endowed by God to be both, Mary is the virgin bride and a fruitful mother. In Mary, the Holy Spirit has created the Ark type and source of the Church. This is how Vatican II describes Mary and this is why more than half a dozen Popes said Mary is the woman described in John’s vision of Revelation 12. We wouldn’t be a family without a mother!”
And another concerning Mass and the Apocalypse
“In the Apocalypse, Jesus is called the Lamb of God 28 times in 22 chapters. The only other place we hear Lamb of God in the NT is in John’s gospel and there it’s only referred to twice in the opening chapter. The Lamb of God is the title for Jesus. The Liturgy of the Catholic Mass is found on just about every single page of the Apocalypse from the opening paragraph of the Apocalypse where Jesus Christ appears in a white robe with a golden girdle, standing amid seven golden lampstands. He was wearing the uniform of the High Priest, standing next to the Menorah, which stood by the alter of sacrifice in the Jerusalem Temple. In chapters 1, 2, and 3 you find images of Liturgical furniture, of Liturgical functions, there were incense, songs, prayers, trumpets, there was a book that was opened after 7 seals were broken. There were chalice’s that were mixed and poured but you would have to know the Catholic Mass to understand these images. These things are present on every single page of the Apocalypse in every chapter. The common theme that runs through the beginning to the end of Revelation is this heavenly liturgy that Jesus revealed to John on the Island of Patmos when he ordered him to write it down, take it back and give it to the churches in Asia Minor so that when they celebrated the liturgy they would know where they were. They were in Heaven! They were doing the same things the angels and the saints in glory were doing. When Jesus Christ overcomes Satan in Revelation, it isn’t simply at the end of time, it’s in the middle of the liturgy of the Lamb, the Lamb’s supper. The liturgy of the Mass and the Apocalypse are a perfect match. In the first part of the Mass we have the Confiteor, the confession. In the 7 letters to the 7 churches in Asia Minor we have Christ calling his people to repent just as we are repenting in the opening scene of the Eucharistic Liturgy as well. You also have Christ promising the hidden manna, what we Catholics know as the Holy Eucharist. So you keep your eyes on the anti christ or the Millennium or the mark of the beast and we’ll go to heaven every time we celebrate Mass!”

Catholic Answers also did a show on the Book of Revelation with Dr. Michael Barber which you can find here.
Dr. James Dobbins did a 12 week class on the Book of Revelation which is also available online **here **(you’ll have to scroll down to the podcast of March 01, 2010 to get to episode 1). It’s been a while since I listened to it, but I seem to recall his main resource was the writings and talks of Dr. Scott Hahn. You can also find it on iTunes.

My next pictures and diagrams about the Throne of God and the Lamb (in
the early verses of Chapters 21 and 22) will demonstrate anatomical
details of the sella turcica with 4 tiny clinoid processes like bedposts and the massive 4 columns over the Confessio Altar of St Peter’s Basilica; plus the similar elevations and depressions of the floors of each location — similarities too striking and real to be merely coincidental.
Why?
Because the architect of the Basilica had dissected human bodies and was familar with theology.

This is an interesting direct view of the sunken area of the Confessio leading to the underground tomb (not open to the public) and on the floor level the high altar. That is where the Popes over the last several centuries have celebrated masses.

This is my final post tonight – showing the amazing similarities in our skull base anatomy to the designs of the “new” St. Peter’s Basilica several centuries ago. The history of the construction, architects, artists, and Popes is complex.
But remember the images just shown to you of the High Altar, the Massive 4 columns on the 4 corners of that area, the sunken area in front (the Confessio) – then see how many similarities you can find in the closeup of the Sella Turcica which is like a Throne in our head – with water (cerebro- spinal fluid) flowing by in the midline of the base of the brain in the ventricular system, the 12 pairs of cranial nerves exiting through foramens, or gates. Then please re-read Chapters 21 and 22 to find those symbols and images again with new meaning.

See the two pairs of clinoid bony posts (anterior and posterior) like 4 posters on a bed?

We have a model in our skull of the High Altar, the 4 columns, and the sunken area. As proclaimed in the Book of Genesis, we are made in the Image of our Creator. The Basilica of St. Peter must have been designed in the image of the New Jerusalem, the City of God in the Book of Revelation. The center piece is the High Altar over the underground grave – the bony remains St. Peter, the first Pope.

On Easter weekend, here are more comparisons between the New Jerusalem heavenly city in the Bible, the Papal Altar and Grave of St. Peter in the Basilica in Rome and our human human skull and brain.
(From the New Jerusalem Bible, Revelation Ch 22 – bolds are mine)

IV. THE APOSTLE’S MEMORIAL
Pilgrims who cross the threshold of the Vatican basilica usually go right to **the papal altar. This, precisely, is the goal of their journey, since there - they know - is the place sacred to St. Peter. **In the center of the area over which Michelangelo’s magnificent dome rises, the altar stands majestically above the level of the basilica, protected by the very rich bronze baldacchino, the canopy supported by the ornate columns of Gianlorenzo Bernini. **At the foot of the altar, toward the east, is the entrance of the Confessione, a sort of open chapel gleaming with marble and enclosed by a railing on which, day and night, eighty-nine oil lamps gleam in holders of gilded bronze. **
Later today I will post diagrams comparing the Papal Altar to the sella turcica, the seat of the master gland, the pituitary gland. Even a more significant “coincidence” is the location of St. Peter’s grave beneath the Papal Altar compared to the sphenoidal sinus (cavity) beneath the sella turcica in any human skull.

You see the columns on either side at the top half and the high Papal Altar, and the Confessio is to your left. Beneath the altar is the crypt of St. Peter, to the right of the Red Wall (if you can see that detail).
Next look at a standard Xray of a human skull (same orientation)
