Commentary on Philemon

This letter is short and it seems to have a parabolic meaning (it’s a parable).

It seems to be that Paul is pleading to Philemon as Christ pleads with the Father for the sake of sinners. It is particularly as a result of Baptism that Paul (Christ) pleads for mercy for the errant slave (sinners).
 
John, this is very nicely done. I do have one observation, and it may fit in with Crumpy’s comments. The name Onesimus means useful in Greek. It could have been a given name or a nickname, on the order of calling a bald man Curly. While he may have been useful to Paul, Philemon might not havefound him to be of any use at all. Therefore, in God’s hands, and in God’s service, even a worthless slave, the bottom of the heap in Greek society, might find value.
 
I would like to view the commentary, however, it appears that the link is no longer valid. Please update.
