God, help us to fly away from that. These promises are true. Not what somebody said about It, but what God said about them. They are true. I’m so glad to be associated with eagles.

The linked website identifiies him as “a prophet of God and internationally-recognized evangelist.”

Can you list some the things or events to which he correctly prophesied, and can you give at least a partial list of the nations that officially recognize him as an evangelist?

He didn’t approve of any of the Christian churches, and his theology is definitely not consistent with Trinitarian Christianity.

Can you list some the things or events to which he correctly prophesied, and can you give at least a partial list of the nations that officially recognize him as an evangelist?

Do any countries “officially recognize” evangelists? I don’t know of any.

He was a faith-healer in the American Pentecostal tradition and a self-proclaimed Prophet. Wikipedia has a decent article about him.

I’d never heard of him either until descout mentioned that his girlfriend attended one of their churches.

It’s extremely important as Catholics to **not **use the sola scriptura concept of “soundbiting” the Scriptures by examining only one or two verses of Scripture, which often throws what is being said totally out of context. Remember, only recently was Scripture even given numeration by verse, so people had to read and contemplate the entirety of a given book to know the full meaning. With a Magisterium that’s already done the heavy lifting, all we need to do is read and contemplate.

That said, in Matthew 24, Christ is warning his followers to be wary of false prophets, many of which will claim they are the returned Messiah and use the course of natural or political disasters to support their claim. They may even appear to have the ability to heal or perform abilities that Christ had demonstrated to his followers.

The USCCB footnotes of the New American Bible offer this interpretation of verses 26-28:

Claims that the Messiah is to be found in some distant or secret place must be ignored. The coming of the Son of Man will be as clear as lightning is to all and as the corpse of an animal is to vultures; cf Luke 17:24, 37. Here there is clear identification of the Son of Man and the Messiah; cf Matthew 24:23.

Jesus, as typical of Him, is using metaphor to emphasize his point about His actual return.
