Does anyone notice that the only religion atheists go after is Christianity? I find that since God gave them an above average intellect, this fills them with pride and they become resentful of God because they feel above others who rely on Him for help. Besides that, how can you answer an atheist who brings up Jesus saying to stone gays?
I often say to them “If I’m wrong, I wasted my life. But if you’re wrong, you wasted your eternity.”
In today’s society, I can’t really agree with Leviticus 20:13. Does anyone have a way to answer an atheist when they bring this up?

That’s a bit narrow minded. Ever been to Japan? they scoff Buddhism and Taoist just as much. You have Christians here as a majority so that is what gets targeted.

People are not Atheists because they are smarter, dumber people are just more likely to follow blindly without asking why.

He never said that, at all.
I often say to them “If I’m wrong, I wasted my life. But if you’re wrong, you wasted your eternity.”
Its not up to you to say. An atheists can get into heaven as well.

Me either.

You’re right it isn’t for me to decide. But as far as I know, a person does need to accept Jesus to be allowed into Heaven. And where I said Jesus told people to stone gays, I was referring to Leviticus 20:13 and how it is thrown back at theists.

None shall come to the father except through me comes to mind.

Where are you getting this from? You’ve seen God and have gotten an alternative from what the Bible says?

Every time its said someone had to back it up its like no one is ever listening!

“In comments likely to enhance his progressive reputation, Pope Francis has written a long, open letter to the founder of La Repubblica newspaper, Eugenio Scalfari, stating that non-believers would be forgiven by God if they followed their consciences.”

I was looking for something else but this will do. This pope has been so helpful clearing up misconceptions.

Lol that’s his opinion. It’s not dogma.

Of course God is merciful and can choose to extend heaven to someone with no faith he can, but, it is going to be far more difficult. I’ve never met an atheist that lives a life that would get them to heaven (speaking as an ex atheist).

Did you miss the part where I said I was looking for something else? Meaning its not the first church official to say it. Meaning its been said before, not just here, many, many times.

Pope Benedict XVI
Pope John Paul II
Mother Teresa

I can go on and on.

Yes, IF someone is invincibly ignorant they have a chance.

How many invincibly ignorant people do you think truly exist? Especially given the ease of access people in developed countries have to information?

Well maybe but here is the crux of it; you cant know so stop saying people cant go to heaven.

Its not your place.

I’m saying they can as in enabling. Not judging, which is the problem.

You’re correct it’s not our place. It just seems that even if someone lives their entire life following their conscience but running away from God, he will grant them that.

Not in my experience. I’ve read many atheist arguments refuting everything from Islam to Wicca. Why do you think younger Muslims are secularizing at such a prodigious rate in European countries especially? They are being exposed to the same messages that Christians are.

Depends on the atheist. Some are highly intelligent and have taken the time to form logically coherent rationalizations for their position.

A lot of the New Atheists are full of rage and rely on memes to form the basis of their indignation.

Honestly, I am probably closer to agnosticism than belief, myself. But I found the base emotionalism driving most of the New Atheists’ arguments to be profoundly unimpressive.

Yeah I mean those kinda atheists who feel “superior to the sheeple who pray to some sky wizard invented by cave dwellers” not people like Stephen Hawking.

I suspect atheists in Muslim countries are mostly in the closet for fear of death or other harm. Also I present this…

In Christian countries the main risks are complicating family interactions and a vastly smaller dating pool.

Though I do find the concept of resenting that which one believes is not to be incredibly odd. I’m in the “live and let live” camp. I suspect there are lots of us, but we keep quiet irl. I personally do not begrudge you your belief. If belief in a higher power helps one to deal with our smallness compared to the observable universe, bad things that happen, or our inability to control a great many things then please continue.
