I’m assuming the answer is yes, but is taking communion acceptable during a period of fasting? I just want to make sure. Thanks.

Of course it is acceptable .

If it was unacceptable , the reception of the Eucharist would be unacceptable during Lent , and during any periods of fasting .

What made you a little unsure ?

Holy Communion is only acceptable to be taken during a period of fasting. One is supposed to fast for at least one hour before communion, according to the new rules. Many likely follow the old rules and fast from midnight the night before or at least 3 hours before communion.

If you are fasting for spiritual reasons: Yes.

If you are fasting for medical reasons: Ask your doctor.
