Communion and Protestants

Last night at my LC-MS Lutheran church at the Board of Elders, the pastors interviewed the candidates for confirmation separately, when asked if they went to a friend’s church that was non-LC-MS and they were offered communion would the accept, they all said that they would not because to do so would be to their harm.

Because the LC-MS takes seriously St. Paul’s words in 1Cor. 11:23-32 concerning the Lord’s Supper. Also if one goes to a church that they call the Lord’s Supper a memorial meal or a symbol, it is doubtful that they have the Lord’s Supper and they are receiving it to their harm. Persons going to the altar need to be of like mind when it comes to doctrine because it perceives fellowship.
Lutherans and Catholics may disagree on what happens with the bread and wine but we agree that we receive Christ’s very Body and Blood. By the same token, I would not take Communion in the Catholic Church or in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America because we disagree on doctrine.

Regardless of what YOU think it is

Um, no, if we are discussing why a protestant would be offended at not being allowed communion, it is totally with regard to what I think. I get that your church teaches otherwise. I get that it means something different to you than it does to me and my family and everyone I know. However, you refuse to see how anyone else might view the situation and live in your own little world where everyone who disagrees with you doesn’t matter. I’ve laid out why it makes some people uncomfortable. I’m done. Go be self-righteous and continue to believe anyone who thinks differently has no right to do so.
