I know that we have to receive communion during Easter time. Does this mean it has to be within the defined Easter Season or can it be just around this time, even if it is a little before or after?

We are still in the Easter Season. It can be after Easter, during the Easter Season. I don’t think Lent counts. Easter lasts until Pentecost, so as long as one received communion before Pentecost, then you have met the Easter duty.
But keep in mind that is the minimum and doesn’t mean you don’t attend Mass on every Sunday and each Holy Day.

Are you a Latin Catholic in the USA? Then the available time for the Easter season obligation is from Ash Wednesday to Trinity Sunday (Sunday after Pentecost).
