So, I’m in a bit of a dilemma. I’m working on getting into to the army national guard and when I went to process last week, they asked me a bunch of questions that my recruiter told me to say no to. Some of the answers should have been yes, but my recruiter told me to deny. I attempted to go to confession today then realized that there is no confession because of it being holy Saturday. Do I need to abstain from receiving communion tomorrow?

I would say that’s not full consent, so I think you’re ok. Bring that to God in your personal prayer and explain your heart to Him, really asking for His forgiveness.

I hope this is something you can work through in the future. I have some interest in the Guard also so maybe one day I’ll see what you’re talking about.

God bless

I would just like to say that recruiters sometimes are not looking out for your best interest. Their job is to get bodies in the guard. However, you should be careful what you are lying about. If you are caught, it could mean trouble.

I don’t know if this is mortal or not, I feel like you were coerced into lying actually, and did not do so freely. Still, you could confess and discuss in confession next time you go.

Happy Easter!

You obviously committed a lie but perhaps for your mitigation is that you only complied with what the recruiter instructed you, in order to fulfill the job requirement.

It is still a sin. Ask God to forgive you on your dilemma and confess it next time.

Have a blessed Easter.

I won’t be able to receive Holy Communion tommorrow either.
