How are infants given Communion at baptism if they are baptized before they eat solids?

I’m not sure I would describe the Eucharist in the East as a “solid”, since unlike in the west where the host and the wine are given independant from each other, in the east (at least in the Byzantine Rite) the two are given together.

However I know nothing about raising a child and what they can digest so take what I say for what it’s worth. 😃

It depends on the age; if less than a year, a drop or two of the Precious Blood is given from the spoon. A two-year old is usually able to handle a small piece of the Holy Body along with the Precious Blood.

I see
Thanks!

I’ve always been curious about how the Sacraments of Initiation are given to infants.
