Communion, how many times a day is permitted

Somebody told me that is is allowed to go to communion 2 times a day.
Is it correct? Because I think it is allowed to only go to communion 1 time a day.

Your friend is correct, provided that the second time is in the context of a full Mass (and not a Communion service or something like that). This follows from Canon 917 of the Code of Canon Law. Additionally, one in danger of death can always receive the Eucharist as part of Last Rites regardless of how many times he has received it already that day.

To answer your question, reception of Holy Communion is only permited once every liturgicle day (sunset to sunset the next day, I believe). Any greater frequency is a sacrilege, so I hear. Greater frequency is permitted for Clergy, though. However, the poster above may be right…although I have never heard that it was permited twice befoer:confused:

Can. 917 A person who has already received the Most Holy Eucharist can receive it a second time on the same day only within the eucharistic celebration in which the person participates, without prejudice to the prescript of can. 921, §2 [pertaining to danger of death].

As long as the second time is at a full Mass, you can receive twice. As Mark said, in the context of the “Last Rites” you can receive however many times you have had it that day.
 
Note that a day in canon law is midnight to midnight unless it is otherwise specified for a particular law. I was told this by a canon lawyer and have had it confirmed a couple of times; so I accept it as reliable.

For us in the Mystical East a day is from sunset to sunset. Just saying. 🙂

And we in the East may receive communion once a day.

Here it is:
Can. 202 §1. In law, a day is understood as a period consisting of 24 continuous hours and begins at midnight unless other provision is expressly made; a week is a period of 7 days; a month is a period of 30 days, and a year is a period of 365 days unless a month and a year are said to be taken as they are in the calendar.
