As a result of my ongoing Spiritual Journey, I have to ask a question: Does anyone here have Communion Intercessors or has there ever been a practice of having Communion Intercessors?
They are Saints and Blesseds whom I call on right before the moment of reception. I cannot say where or when it originated with me, but it is a solid part of my preparation for Holy Communion. I know I was always very impressed at how Pope John Paul II used to entrust his work to Mary and to various Sts and Blesseds. Maybe it originated from there.
I would like to share it with you in case it might help folks to prepare better for the moment of reception with the help of Heaven.
My permanent intercessors are Our Blessed Lady, Mary Immaculate, St Joseph and my Guardian Angel
I then turn to Sts Josemaria Escriva, Faustina Kowalska, Fergal (my name sake), Oliver Plunkett and Peter. I always add the St of the day to the list when we celebrate a feast day or are in a liturgical season. For example I will place St Paul in the list in place of St Peter for the whole of the Year of St Paul from June this year. St Peter is added this year because my current academic intercessor (the one to whom I entrust my year of teaching) is the beloved Peter.
The list of Blesseds I call on are Jacinta and Francisco Marto the little shepherds of Fatima.
Then I call upon my two favourite Servants of God John Paul II and Sr Lucia Dos Santos. (Oops is Lucia a servant of God yet?)
I finally call on all the angels and other saints to intercede for me at this moment.
What so I ask them? To intercede for me and obtain for me, through their powerful intercession the grace to receive my Lord and my God a little less unworthily.
Just felt like I really wanted to share that with you all.
