Yeah I went to TLM yesterday they gave communion on the tongue and had holy water

I gotta say the request to receive in the hand as an act of charity is a lot more impressive than having people question the right to receive on the tongue and talking down to those who have the right to do so.

Peope should not have to deal with artifical obstacles being put in the way of their spiritual life like this. These bishops are standing between Christ and the people. That is immoral. They should really reflect on what they are doing.
The bishops aren’t “standing between Christ and the people.” Those who hold and spread such extreme, undermining, and slanderous opinions are.

Look, I do not believe it is very much safer, but both science and common sense tells you it is a little safer. Viruses spread most common in droplets from coughing and such. Although it us not as common as people claim, but MHC do at times touch people tongues, that is saliva.

Normally, this difference is likely so slight as to not be the least concern. But this is not normally.

Never the less, even if you disagree with the above, you must admit many people don’t. So out if charity towards others, one should not, at this time, receive on the tongue. That’s my opinion. Why put a priest distributing communion in a position he doesn’t want to be in.

Bishops are not withholding Christ from the people by temporarily suspending one type of Eucharistic reception for health reasons. Why are you accusing them of such?

Our bishops are Christ’s own. Please, don’t accuse our shepherds of malpractice.

I’m actually considering quitting this site as I can’t believe all the hate from both sides. This is NOT how Christians act. Everyone (myself included) should look at how they are responding and stop the hate and embrace love and remember that we ALL are images of God.

Come on everyone… I know people are mad, afraid, concerned, etc, but we are all sisters and brothers in Christ. Let’s act like it.

I agree with you totally and despise any effort to criticize bishops or any clergy’s efforts to keep their flock safe and healthy. The article which was posted in an FYI spirit, seems to make it clear that a certain norm needs to be rewritten.

Yep, Christ definitely isn’t suffering from having particles of Himself fall on the floor and be trampled on under foot.
You should talk to your pastor about getting better hosts. Ours don’t leave particles all over the place, as so many people seem to have happening.

Exactly. It is most mysterious.

Exactly. Our hosts are solid and don’t break easily.

In fact, when our pastor has to break them, he has to put in quite the effort.

Matthew 7:20. That is the last I will say on this for now.
Well, without an explanation of what you mean by it, I’m left to assume the worst of what you mean.

Okay fine I’ll spell it out. Christ talked of false shephards who would lead people astray. This was given as a test: “by their fruits ye shall know them”. Whereas there is absolutely no scientific evidence that COTT is more dangerous than CITH, and whereas this is causing a lot of pain and difficulty for many people, it is my belief that those bishops who are prohibiting COTT are leading people away from and not towards Christ. That is my considered opinion on the matter.

As it turned out, my thought was correct.

I just ask you, then, to pray about the possibility that you may be overreacting. A person shouldn’t be so married to their tradition that they project such accusations onto those who confect the Eucharist for us.

Personally, I receive in the hand because it’s how I was raised. I’ve also received on the tongue before, and I let my “feeling of the moment” determine how I receive Him, knowing that He is equally present either way I choose. I’m not particularly “married” to the form I was raised with, and if there arose some situation where my preferred method of reception was suspended, I’d ride it out and receive on the tongue. I’d do the same if CITH were abolished. I don’t let my feelings dictate my opinions, particularly those about our episcopacy.

Okay. That’s nice for you. But for some of us recieving on the tongue is a really big part of our spirituality and this is causing a lot of pain. I’m far from the only person even on this forum who has felt really isolated by these decisions. The role of a bishop is surely to help lead people to Christ. This is not helping to do that.
