Though I am not communing as of yet, I do however visit about 6 parishes within our diocese. I love the tranquil, solemn masses at the Cathedral and would love to receive communion there when and if I ever can. I know I can ask my priest, but I have only been able to talk to him once. Does anyone here commune at other than their home parish?

Yes, a Catholic in good standing can attend Mass and receive communion at any Catholic church in the world.

Of course, anyone can attend Mass. But the conditions for receiving communion are the same everywhere. - Baptised Catholic who is properly disposed - not conscious of mortal sin, or impediments (irregular marriage, etc.), having kept the fast,

When traveliing Catholics can recive communion, just as they can when visiting pilgramge sites or just a neighboring parish.

We go regularly to the National Bascilica and attend Mass and receive communion there.

As a Catholic you will be welcome to receive communion at any Mass anywhere in the world, provided the requirements mentioned by Mrs. Sally are met.

The others are correct. Catholics in good standing can receive Communion at any Catholic Mass. I’ve lost track of the number of Churches (and other places) where I have received Communion. 🙂

The fact that we can go to Mass anywhere in the world and receive Holy Communion is what makes us catholic. The Church is Catholic - Universal.

yes you can receive communion at other parishes as long as you are free of mortal sin. I know I’ve received at Mass out of town a few times before. You aren’t REQUIRED to attend your own home parish. My brother and his family has often attended Mass at our home parish we grew up in (and I still attend with my parents) when it was more convenient (4 PM Mass as opposed to 6 PM Vigil Mass for example).

if you have 1st communions or Confirmation Masses to attend outside of your home parish, you will receive at a different parish.

You may receive communion in any other Catholic parish other than your home parish. As long as you are in the state of grace,

I do that all the time. I have a great parish, but near my work is another parish that offers a Noon Mass.

I am there at least once a week, more if I can get away.

I am very blessed at the number of parishes and Masses that are within a short driving distance (I’d say no less than 50 within one hour of my home). I love attending other parishes, and even have adopted a couple as my home away from home. As others have said, you can receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist at any Catholic Church; you can also have your confession heard at any Catholic Church.

For those unaware, however, there are some churches that claim communion with Rome, or call themselves Catholic, that are not. If you are not sure, please check with the diocese website, of which they should be in.

Yes, I do that and I don’t think it is wrong.
