Is it ok to receive Holy Communion at each of these masses: 10:30 AM - 4th Sunday of Advent Mass (Dec. 24), Midnight Mass Christmas, 10:30 AM Christmas morning Mass?

The 10:30 AM 4th Sunday of Advent Mass (Dec. 24) and the Midnight Christmas Mass are two different Masses, so it’s ok to receive Holy Communion at both of those (besides, by the time you get to the Holy Communion part of Midnight Mass, it’ll be well past midnight). The only real question, then, is concerning the additional Christmas morning Mass.

I sing in our church choir and had a similar question 6 years ago (i.e. the last time 12/24 was on a Sunday). As our then-associate pastor put it, since the readings for the Christmas morning Mass are different from the readings for the Christmas Midnight Mass, they’re technically two different Masses. He said “go ahead.”

Yes, it is OK. Also Keep in mind that Sunday Advent 4 and Christmas eve are considered two different days etc. meaning If you miss the Satruday vigil mass and miss Christmas day mass you have to go to mass twice on Sunday to fulfill the Sunday obligation and the Christmas obligation. Christmas is NOT transferred to Sunday as far as obligation goes. SO…

yes as long as that Mass Christmas day is a complete Mass (you are there the whole time, not just for communion).

Let’s make it a little simpler for the poor OP. Rule is you can receive communion twice in one day. ‘Day’ sometimes means midnight to midnight, sometimes means ‘liturgical day’ (as in same Mass readings = same day).

Whichever way you slice it you won’t be receiving more than twice in any day if you receive as indicated 👍

You’re allowed to receive communion 2x per day or more if for grave reasons. so your christmas plans will be A OK.

Thank you kindly everyone for taking the time to respond and clarify these things for me. 🙂

God bless.

Yes. The 4th Sunday Mass is different than the Midmight Christmas Mass so no problem there, and you can receive at the Midnight Mass and one of the other two Chrismas Masses, as you can at Easter and Holy Thursday also. I think the Holy Thursday one applies if you received at the Charism Mass in addition to another daily Mass.
