I have another question about Communion Services. Do you receive the same graces from them as you would a Mass? The reason why I ask is because I went to what I thought was Mass and it turned out to be a Communion Service. I was going to Mass to celebrate but was not going to receive Communion due to various reasons. So then Mass wasn’t celebrated and all we had was a Communion Service which it seems to me the only point is to receive Communion.

Secondly, for venial sins, if you do a Penitental Rite during a Communion Service, and the Communion Service is lead by a deacon, does it carry the same weight as a Penitental Rite lead by a Priest during Mass?

No, you do not receive the same graces, with the exception of the Sacramental Grace from receiving the Sacrament Holy Communion.

The point of a Communion service is to allow the community to gather on the Lord’s Day for prayer and the reception of Holy Communion.

Yes, because the Penitential Rite is not a Sacrament.
