Communion song for Easter Sunday?

You asked for an opinion, I gave you mine.

I think that particular song balances horizontal and vertical dimensions more than you give it credit for.

Verses like these:
  1. Christ now, before, and always,
    our beginning and our end.
    Our Alpha and Omega; savior and friend.
  2. This day, is the day that God made:
    be glad, rejoice and sing!
    We will weep no more, so let the song of life now ring.
Do a good job of that…methinks
That’s just a portion of the sing. The big problem is that it’s mostly about us. Notice that most the song begins with “we”. It emphasizes the horizontal over the vertical. It is not an appropriate song at all.

Now - as for other suggestions for a communion hymn on Easter Sunday - I suggest “Festival Canticle: Worthy Is Christ” by Richard Hillert.
