What I like best about this article is they highlighted the fact that the Catholic Church never assumes the miraculous unless all natural explanations have been ruled out by extensive study. So many phenomena are branded “miraculous” by popular acclaim, that it is very reassuring to me that I can believe that something is in fact miraculous when the Church says so.
It is an interesting phenomenon, though, and I do wonder what the final pronouncement will be.
As an aside, a friend of mine moved into a house that had a blood red substance in the shower tile grout. It grew there between the time she viewed the house with her realtor and the time they closed on the house, this happened a few weeks ago during a period of unusually hot and wet weather up here. The deposit turned out to be a mixture of a fungus and a bacteria that commonly grows on non-antiseptic bar soap. Nothing either miraculous or sinister about it (the initial mess looked like someone had bled on the lower part of the shower and the shower floor,) but it was a real bear to clean up. She finally had to use undiluted bleach to get rid of it, and apply a sealer called Kilz to keep it from coming back.

I get a pinkish/red fungus growing in the shower every so often. The picture in the Strib looks like a sort of mold. The bubble looks like mold.
