Hey All,

I have a question.

Why have most of the worlds presidents recieved communion when they are not catholic? Just curious.

Many are still Christian, so they are probably communion in their church. If they are receiving Catholic communion, then that is inappropriate behavior unless they are Catholic.

That does not make sense. There are strict rules that only Catholics may take communion. I repeat though, that these are PRESIDENTS of countries taking communion and are NOT catholic.

Are you saying that they received Catholic communion while the priest definitively knew that they weren’t Catholic? I know that is wrong and I know that only Catholics may receive communion, but I’m not sure why the priest didn’t put a stop to that.

Well, how could the priest not know? I mean, lets get real here for a moment.

On March 29, the Rev. Mohlomi Makobane, a Catholic priest in Soweto, South Africa, gave Holy Communion to the president of the United States, a Jesuit-educated Southern Baptist who worships at his wife’s Methodist church in Washington, D.C.

I have a picture as well. This is just one example of many.

As far as I know, the well known example you have given is the only case of a non-Catholic president recieving communion in a Catholic Church, and is widely acknowledged as being improper. The motives of the priest in this particular case have been a wide topic of discussion, opinions ranging from he didn’t know Clinton was Catholic to he knew (unlikely), but circumstances being what they were, didn’t want to cause a scene (at least possible).

Do you have similar documentary verification of “most of the world’s (non-Catholic) presidents” (or even "many) that have recieved communion in a Catholic Church?

And since you are not Catholic, why do you care?

examples, names, dates, times and places please. there are at least 150 countries in the world, I don’t know what percentage have presidents, or what percentage of those presidents are Catholic. Do you have some proof that the non-Catholic ones have received communion at a Catholic Mass?
