Would you have a problem living in a Communist country if it permitted you to fully practice your Catholic faith?

This question assumes that the parts of Marxist-Leninist Communism that oppose religion may be removed, as they are not truly opposed to a Communist economic system.

Opine away.

By the way, the sentences above are not making an argument for or against Communism.

I think it would be much easier to live in a socialist country that allows for religious practices since technically a communist country a true communist country would not have a government I think what you were referring to are countries ruled by communist parties.

I am referring to a hypothetical communist country that allows free exercise of religion.

No because I do not believe that any government should be in control of all enterprises of a country. Human nature being the way it is, any government with that kind of control and power will be corrupt.

I don’t really think any one economic system actually works so I’d want to live in a completely Communist country about as much as I would want to live in a completely Capitalist country. In other words, not very much.

Canada is NOT Communist, but is close
to the ideology that the Government
should look after the People from “the
cradle to the grave” we have medicare
and the Old age pension and disability
benefits, our public education system
is free. But it IS a secular society and
abortion and SSM is allowed. The citi-
zens LAUGH at Christians when they
try to share their faith and have Dis-
regard for their leaders(government) I
think it is harder to share one’s faith
in this country than in a more Capitalist
country like the US.

Can you explain? What is my premise?
As I see it, communism has never been achieved by popular will - at least not in the form in which it was realized. A governmental system which believes, teaches and enforces that it is the supreme authority will not stand competition - either from potential alternative civil government, or from any system of spiritual government which identifies with a power considered to be higher than itself. As a practical matter, we do see limited tolerance of religion, but mostly heavy persecution of any and all who believe in a power higher than man.

Valid opinions would certainly come from those who have lived under the various communist governments.
